timppu: Interesting, I didn't even know of such a movie coming out... Still waiting for a proper Mechwarrior movie.

Is the Warcraft movie meant mainly for the WoW generation, or will people who only know Warcraft 1-3 enjoy it as well? Everything I know about WoW comes from that South Park WoW episode, so I guess I already know quite a lot.
So far it seems to be Warcraft: Orcs and Humans in movie form. No trolls, no elves, no dwarves, no tauren, just orcs and humans.

To paraphrase a song "Milk it, just a little, milk it a little bit more..."

Just stop buying anything associated with Blizzard and they will hopefully disappear.
Man everyone is such a debby downer and you are the most downer of them all.

Yay, winner! Seriously though, with the best will in the world, have you ever seen a computer game to film that is actually good, I haven't - Street Fighter, D&D 1/2/3, Max Payne (well, its ok I suppose), Doom, Mortal Kombat (I actually do like these films, but they are not great), Tomb Raider, Hitman (surprisingly only average) etc. Not to mention the Jarjar saga (take sharp objects away from me).
Actually, there are a couple of watchable ones in that list, so maybe it will exceed all expectations and just be average.

Any bets on a Gotrek & Felix cartoon series next?

At least we can have faith that the batlle sequecnes will live up to the "Warcraft" name.

I mean how hard is it to fuck that up?

Elmofongo: Never heard of him nor seen or even knew a show called Vikings existed today.
Great first season, good second season, things start getting really stupid in season three...

I wonder if Fimmel is going to eventually curse Vikings and Warcraft for getting him typecast as a bearded medieval warrior.

True, I have seen some really good battle sequences recently. Vikings the series for instance had some good battles.

I can play as a long haired, full facial, haired, Jesus looking medieval character better than him probably.

I AM CALLED SIR ARGRONOK, MIGHTY WARRIOR KNIGHT AND SLAYER OF DARK LORDS AND DRAGONS AND RESCUER OF KINGDOMS AND PRINCESSESS!!!!

(Yeah this is my WOW character and yeah I know its spelled Argronak because Argronok is taken)

TARFU: I think some folks were just upset because they felt like the "Final Fantasy" title had misled them and that it was some kind of bait and switch.
Hmmm perhaps. Considering Final Fantasy usually takes dozens of hours to complete via fighting and other quests and stuff, perhaps the movie was too short? (Although it was average length as I recall) so I'm not sure. Much like 11 & 14 it's a deviation from the formula in some major ways.

But when you're experimenting, what can you do?
I'll never understand the appeal of the ridiculous "teasers" of a trailer. People have so little patience these days that they can't even wait a week for a full trailer. As for the movie, Duncan Jones is a really good director and I really liked both of his movies so far especially "Moon".

This is a highly ambitious project though and studio meddling always results in a sub par film so we will have to wait and see whether the director was given full creative control on this one for it to actually break the video game movie curse.

Well, that's the social media age for you. People have no patience, and their attention span is shorter than the list of good Micheal Bay movies. If you're in marketing you have to make teasers for trailers, teasers for posters, websites with countdowns to teasers for websites with viral stuff, and so on and on, because you live in the constant fear that if you shut up for a moment and just have people wait jingling keys in their faces they'll forget all about your movie.

Well its better than people going to see a random movie just to see a trailer of a movie they can't wait for:

Yeah, I see people loosing their shit over teasers that just reveal the title of a movie in this social media age. The disconnect between the marketing and creative mostly does a disservice to the movie where the trailer reveals the entire plot in two and a half minutes in a lot of cases.

A recent example is the movie "Sicario", I went in blind and was blown away by how great it was. Later on when I saw the trailer though, it actually included scenes from the climactic moments of the film which would have no doubt reduced the overall impact for anyone who saw it beforehand.

Hyperbole is the language of the internet. You can't just say "oh, a new Fallout game. That's nice, I look forward to it" on twitter or in the YT comments under a trailer. It has to be "OMG!!1! I came in my pants! EPIC!"

That's the typical millennial mindset (whom game developers and movie producers seem to mostly be marketing towards these days).
