Behold the worst music choice for a trailer ever!

Seriously, it's one of those moments when I have to just stop and wait for a few seconds to let something sink in. Someone, presumably with education and experience in marketing movies, chose that music for a high fantasy movie trailer. And go paid for it. And other people went ahead with it.

And yes, that is pretty much all I have to say about this trailer. It doesn't show nothing really new, and it doesn't matter anyway, because the horrible music overshadows it completely.
It's been pretty clear that the studio behind this doesn't know how to sell it. They know that video game movies are a hard sell, so they're just desperately cobbling stuff together. Though it doesn't help that the dialogue they have there sounds hammy as hell.

But apparently the director, Duncan jones, is not happy about the music either.

Am i the only one not excited? the CGI looks horrible on all the male orcs and dwarves... and feels so out of place... they should have went 100% CGI and mo-capped the whole thing...

Ditto. Still looks like shite. I'll probably get it as an eventual rental... from my local library... just to have a good laugh at it.

If the powers that be Activision/Blizzard aren't able to make a decent video-game-based movie with their bazillion dollars I highly doubt anybody else will be able to either. Hollywood should just stop trying already.

Reminds me of Simon Pegg, who wrote the upcoming Star Trek movie, and how devasted and embarassed he looked about that movie's trailer. It really looksl ike studios just don't know what to do with some movies. They don't know who they want to sell it to, what they want it be sold as... they don't know anything really. Some things just seem to confuse them. It's really rather astounding how bad movie marketing has been of late in general. Terminator Genisys, Star Trek Beyond, Ghostbusters, Warcraft, even Batman v Superman had problematic trailers, and really odd superbowl adds that were more about some airlines than the movie. I mean sure, something like Ghostbusters will probably just be a terrible movie, but they could still sell it better. You can cut a good trailer from almost any movie. Shit, even I could edit a two minute trailer for something like Fantastic Four that would make it look ok.
