You've got mail!

Browsing catalogs, tracking sales, ain't nobody got time for that.
Well, you finally don't need to - we'll email you when a game on your wishlist goes on sale.

Starting this weekend, when a GOG.com game (or games) on your wishlist gets a discount, you'll receive an automatic email notification with a quick way to jump straight to the product page. Nice and convenient.
If you don't want to receive these notifications, you can always unsubscribe directly through the first email you receive, or by heading to Account > Orders & Settings > and changing your Subscriptions settings.

We're still in the early days of rolling out the feature, so we'll continue iterating and nailing down the details and functionality - but with nearly 13,000 votes for the option on our Community Wishlist, we sure hope it comes in handy!

shadi.lahham: Also, epic fail on turning this feature ON by default for all users!

Ashnak: No. >90% of the users wouldn't know about the feature then.
They should at least SHOW that it's turned on in the account settings if they're going to have it on by default. I checked the setting when I first saw the announcement and it showed up as Unsubscribed (no checkmark), so I was a fair bit annoyed when I did get a notification email earlier today. After getting said email I checked the setting once again, and it still shows up as if I'm not subscribed.

Incognita97: Half of the items on my wishlist went on sale and I didn't get notified by GOG. I did get the single email for the Fall Finale, but nothing about my wishlist. The tick for wishlist alerts is active, so what do I to ensure I receive these emails?
I think it will work for the upcoming sales and discounted games not the current fall sale.

The notification system is apparently configured to notify you only if the wishlisted items will be on sale for more than 24 hours from the notification, which is not the case for any of today's sales, all of which will expire in less than 24 hours.

Ah, thank you for explaining. At least, I didn't miss the sales.:)
First thing I checked with this feature was how to turn it off (which is relatively easy, thankfully, as there is a link at the bottom of the email itself). I can understand why a first email was sent out, in case there are people who rarely check the site, but I'm glad it's easy to get rid of.

Personally, I have things on my Wishlist that are there because GOG doesn't have the complete set of games for some reason. The game that springs to mind there is the Oddworld series which, for some strange reason, is missing Munch's game. I'd prefer to repurchase the games here, but since I have Munch on STEAM with the others, there's no sense in my getting all but one here.

They should have sent an email announcing the feature to all users, but they shouldn't have turned on the feature by default for all and then asked people to unsubscribe if they are not interested. That is a shitty and cheap marketing tactic. GOG should know better.
Nice addition, definitely.

What I'd love is a way to wishlist games I already own, so if I want to gift a copy of that game I'll know when I can buy a discounted gift copy.
I clearly check the site more often than my inbox, so...
About another addition: How about adding the release thread in the forums of a specific game?
I never got spam from GOG, so this is not only good, but it's a great addition. :)

Thank you, GOG. Finally! \o/

gigio_br: Excellent! This is the only pending feature to make GOG perfect!
You do realise you can't even sort games by price, right?
Thanks GOG! I got my first email yesterday and what a nice surprise it was!

No more missing out on sales :)

LiefLayer: good feature but still a little work to do.
in my wishlist there are 2 games that I will only buy when they will have an 80% discount... I will receive lots of mail before that (pillars of eternity and the witcher 3, they are really overpriced, I will pay max 20€ for the witcher 3 and 15€ for pillars of eternity (with all dlc espansions)).
I agree, nice feature.
Perhaps ~6-12 times a year I'd guess, and they are popular games (there is a reason why), so it might take a few years for the price to drop below 50%, especially since they are new games, not "good old games". That's a lot of emails to you, and eventually, you can't wait any longer and buy the game at 20-50%. That's the point. They want to make money not help you save money. That is why I believe they probably won't add a max limit in the wishlist account page or something like that. On the other hand, helping people save money, might mean they buy more games, and in the long run gog makes more money, so who knows... ;)

Yay! Thanks for that, GOG :)
