You've got mail!

Browsing catalogs, tracking sales, ain't nobody got time for that.
Well, you finally don't need to - we'll email you when a game on your wishlist goes on sale.

Starting this weekend, when a GOG.com game (or games) on your wishlist gets a discount, you'll receive an automatic email notification with a quick way to jump straight to the product page. Nice and convenient.
If you don't want to receive these notifications, you can always unsubscribe directly through the first email you receive, or by heading to Account > Orders & Settings > and changing your Subscriptions settings.

We're still in the early days of rolling out the feature, so we'll continue iterating and nailing down the details and functionality - but with nearly 13,000 votes for the option on our Community Wishlist, we sure hope it comes in handy!
whatever. Good that it's there, options are good, not that it will make a difference to me since GOG emails go to my pseudo-spam email that I never check anyway.
Very nice feature, glad to see it :)
Since I'm a regular it would be hard for me to miss soemthing, so I unsubscribed. Still, I'm sure that this feature will be much appreciated from the average, non-forumite user. I approve.

Luned: So have Support change the email associated with your account.
avatar
tinyE: I can't. It's the only email I have access to. :P
Drat -- if only there were some place where a person could easily get a free e-mail account!

avatar
vicklemos: Great! Maybe (just maybe) in the distant future I'll get an email saying ''here, Arx Fatalis is FINALLY on sale!" :P
Yeah, but it'll actually read: "Arx Fatalis is being removed from the catalog for good, so it's on sale till then for 20% off!" =P

Maxvorstadt: B&B? Barbecue & Breakfast?
avatar
tinyE: No but that's not a bad idea!

Every room has a bed and a Weber grill!
"...And a sad day in northern Michigan today, as a bed & breakfast burned to the ground, killing at least 8 people. Quoting a local source, 'Them idiots put grills inside. In the bedrooms! Have you ever heard of something so stupid?' Three donkeys were also killed, as they were apparently 'co-habitating' with one of the innkeepers."

Hey, at least I'd be famous! :D
avatar
Grargar: Nope. I just created a Gmail account and didn't have to give a single digit of my phone number (and no, I didn't even have to fill the telephone number field).
avatar
ssokolow: Probably regional, then. As you may have noticed, I'm in North America.
Also nope. I'm in the U.S., and when I just tried, it didn't force me to put anything in the phone number box, either. (Birth date and gender are mandatory, but you could, of course, just lie about those.) It also didn't force me to put anything in the "current e-mail" box.
Awesome! Glad to see this feature has been added. Great work, GOG! :D
Nice feature GOG, thanks.

avatar
phaolo: Nice, but.. just don't send me 1 email for each wishlist entry O_o'
They don't, I just got one email informing me that 3 games on my wishlist are on sale :)

Sweet, thank you GOG:)
Hi Gog

At the time of writing this "feature" has sent me 156 emails within the space of 15 minutes and they continue to come in.

Please can you check this.

Huh. Maybe they've backpedalled. When I tried about a year ago, Microsoft, Yahoo, and Google all refused to let me register a new account without pairing my nonexistant smartphone with it.

Thanks for giving us the option to unsubscribe. Next step - please make sure that the option works. I don't have it ticked, didn't have it ticked when I first looked at the settings today, it says UNSUBSCRIBED next to it, and I got the email anyway. And from quick glance at the thread, I was lucky that I only got one.

I ticked and unticked it in hope that it will fix itself, I'll see next time.

It's good to have options, but I use my wishlist more like "looks remotely interesting, should check when I'm really bored and my backlogs grows too thin". Things that really interest me go into the shopping cart (*hint* Oblivion *hint*).
Happy to see this feature! Thanks!
