And you won't get any, the blues have been very calm unless it's a technical problem (galaxy doesn't work, game failed to download, somethin something payment, etc).

That is what i've been complaining all this time, their forum policy is complete silence, i mean, why do they bother making contests when they can't even deliver a key for the game? And when someone asks about it there's no answer...

Obvious observation but something going on, from what is being posted here we can see that they're looking for new staff so... layoffs happened?

Why should they change anything if almost all people are still buying games here? Only possibility to change things here (and most probably with other companies as well) is to boycott their store. If enough people do this, GOG WILL CHANGE!

a) I already do that and b) forum (active) community is a small fragment compared with their overall customer base.

I dunno about layoffs, last year was supposed to be a really good year for CDPR/GOG, but I can't remember the numbers. If anything I'd say their parent company maybe decided to take control as a result of their success and booted a lot of the more sympathetic figures.

The moronic "curation" has been in effect for awhile, but I do feel that it has gotten worse recently. I agree with you that something has changed rather drastically, but I doubt we will know what for sure.

To be fair, the catalog is growing faster than ever. It wasn't that long ago they surpassed 1,000 titles, now they are almost to 1400. Then add working on Win 10 support, Linux support, Mac support each title and then the big Galaxy project. I'm really getting the feeling they may be growing faster than they can handle.

Wasn't that due to The Witcher 3 sucess (and related, most of the keys being gog only)?

It's hard to know without any numbers (something similar to Steamspy) but i'm assuming that gog takes something like 10% of the pc market, is that enough?
Not to say that this whole galaxy thing doesn't seem like something sucessful, too much invested and did it do anything to get new customers? Is it even out of beta?

Dunno, way too quiet around here, terrible customer support (worst than before?), the blue ones are way too quiet, prizes are not being delivered to the winners (i mean, really? A code? How hard is to copy/paste that and send to the person?), not much of interaction between gog and forum and so on...

I didn't know about the no codes being delivered to prize winners. That makes it even more concerning.

@Cypraxpt I had heard about the problems with customer support, which is frustrating (again) because I had great experiences in the past.

The silence is deafening and at that I couldn't really say if the earnings were mostly from Witcher 3 and only from that or not. I wish there was more concrete info to go on; at the moment, all we're doing here is twiddling our thumbs being frustrated with the state of things, left to speculation (though I think it's safe to say not completely wild).

Reading more and more of the issues here on this thread is making my headache worse, so I think I'll sign off from it.

For me, the biggest take away from this curation nonsense (my biggest personal complaint) is that I'll no longer hesitate to buy something on Steam if it doesn't immediately show up here. It was certainly nice to have an alternative, but I no longer have the time to deal with GOG's indecision when it comes to certain games that I personally know that I'll like.

I doubt it is that much. On an individual game basis, it seems GoG is only 10-15% of a game's sales vs. Steam. And clearly they have a limited selection of games. Then there is EA, Blizzard, Humble...

Eh, do people buy games besides exclusives from stores like Origin and Uplay? Besides, since Steam closed the gates on the region locking trading i wonder if it didn't lead to those traders changing to gog... (well, now gog is also closing the gates.)

I am quite sure I read that on the forum ; I can't be really specific but I remember people arguing about some puzzle platformer not being a 'welcomed release' because of the market being oversaturated in that area, and a blue answered something like "even if they (gog) vary genres in successive releases, most prominent genres has to come more often".

The point is, if a turn based RPG comes around, it will have better chances to come in here because it's not something we see that often these days, and it's an appreciated genre ; while 2D sidescrollers/platformers are more numerous (due to being simpler/faster to develop) and can't be all released for the sake of diversity.

In a nutshell, I am maybe misinterpreting what I read long ago, so yes : I should warn people that they shouldn't take this at its face value.

I think you make some good points. GOG is growing very fast it seems, possibly faster than they can scale their workforce to some degree. I don't know for certain either way, but I suspect it might be a little difficult to find certain types of talent also. I have no idea what kind of wages they offer, but I suspect that the wages for a given position converted into USD would be much lower than someone getting a similar job at a company in the US directly. That could very well be an incorrect assumption to be making too, but even if it is incorrect a lot of people might make the same assumption and not apply. Aside from the financial side of things though there is the relocate to Poland aspect too, and a lot of people who might otherwise be interested in such a job might not be willing to relocate to Poland (or relocate anywhere for that matter) for a variety of personal reasons. There are some rather uncomfortable geo-political goings on in that part of the world right now that are a little too close to Poland for example which could make some folks have reservations about relocating to that region of the world.

At the same time though, there is clearly a lot of talented people in Poland and nearby countries too obviously, so hopefully they can continue to grow with local talent. I mean, the Polish way of doing things already has brought us awesomeness like The Witcher games, GOG itself, perogies... They have to be doing something right! :)

Perhaps they should start putting in the job offers "free perogies all you can eat, with bacon and onions". If they did that, they very well might scale past Steam in a weekend... just saying! :oP
