Movie was great fun! I just saw it this Saturday, and quite enjoyed it. A lot of people here put on the impression that it was just a mindless action romp, but I'm not sure I agree with that. It fit perfectly with the action.

Furiosa was cool (what a cheesy attempt at bad-assitude, though :D...IMPERITOR FURIOSA!), I personally don't feel she's earned a place with all the other awesome female action heros, but my judgement is probably clouded by 80s/90s nostalgia. I guess only time will tell.

I thought otherwise with Furiosa. As for baddassitude I mean come on , the big bad is named IMMORTAN JOE!

Remember in the first MM his kids name was Sprog? Must be an Aussie thing.

Fenixp: It's so bizarre and utterly unique that I'm honestly surprised it gets as highly rated as it does.
Here in Japan Mad Max arrives late, but about this last sentence I suggest you to checkout Helldriver [2010]. To quote a viewer: "I have seen ultimate weirdness, and HELLDRIVER is its name."
My top movie of the year, and probably one of my favourite action movies ever. Its just really well made with some great imagery.
This movie was nuts. And I like nuts, so it's win-win for me!

Fenixp: Yeah, it's a very much "Love it, hate it" kind of movie. And yeah, it's fucking awesome. So, after praising Interstellar for someone finally doing a relatively intelligent AAA sci-fiction, I'm here to praise Mad Max for finally doing utterly insane AAA action blockbuster. I didn't even know a new Mad Max is in the making, and so it has sort of suddenly emerged in the midst of all the comic-inspired action movies and mopped the floor with all of them.

And boy, was it an action-packed master-piece, fully aware of its silliness and insanity. Forget about a story, the only reason for the movie to slow down is so you don't get a heart attack. Forget about deep and meaningful characters, altho most of the characters on display here instantly have more character than 90% of characterless manequins you can see in modern movie theatres. There's no philosophy, there's no honor and there's no sanity. What there is, however, is the most imaginative, testosterone-filled (yes, women also contain testosterone, shock horror) fight for survival I've seen in years. The movie doesn't need a good story to be mindblowing, it doesn't need clever twists to be surprising, it doesn't even need to build deep personalities to contain good characters. It's so bizarre and utterly unique that I'm honestly surprised it gets as highly rated as it does.
So the movie at last and it was RAD!!!

Only gripe is that is not as Bloody and Violent as I expected.

I was hoping for Robocop 1 level of gore.

Have you seen Dredd? It's not amazing, but it DOES have Robocop-esque gore and brutality.

You should also check out The Raid and The Raid 2, if it's brutal violence you're after. The Raid 2 in particular makes Robocop look like a kid's movie.

Think I have seen the movie from Chris Stuckmann's videos somewhere.

I'll check it on if it's on Netflix.

Also the best part of Mad Max Fury Road was when they entered a Freakishly huge Sandstorm.

Thunder and Lightning can conduct in a Sandstorm?
actually, upon thinking about this post for a second. I've decided to pretend like I was doing nothing.

screw you guys I'm going home.

I KNOW, RIGHT???

That part was amazing.

Dredd was on Netflix for awhile. That's how I saw it. I don't think The Raid 1 + 2 are though. I had to get them on Amazon streaming. But believe me... they're worth the money. If you have even a passing interest in either martial arts, or just brutal action violence. Punches have never felt this real, and claw hammers sure do mess up the human body.
I've seen it a second time, and I'm still impressed with how good it is, maybe even more than I was. It's probably one of the best action movies of all time (though it's not the genre defining movie that Road Warrior was for post-apocalypse). There is reall artistry to it, phenomenally well made. It's almost primal, and both insanly fun and very stark and sombre when it needs to be, emotionally genuine and all the more satysfying when there is, in the end, some kind of redemption.

It's really kind of sad that something like Age of Ultron made a billion dollars more than Fury Road. To be expected I guess, but still sucks. I just hope that Fury Road get's a sequel. We need more of that.

Also, I'm very curious about that documentary about the Justice League movie that Miller almost made. Could have been really something.

And all of those are put in a corner in shame compared to "Tokyo Gore Police [2008]." No, the "gore" in the title is not in jest and the tagline "Tokyo is burning" is not either.

My favourite action movies are: crank[2006] and shoot 'em up[2007] . How it compares to those?

I am really looking forward seeing this movie :D

It's on a whole different level. Those are a lot of fun, but silly, there is no substance to them. Fury Road, like I said, has artistry to it. It's not just fun, it's impressive, engrossing and in it's own violent way beautifull. It's a great action movie, but it's also great cinema.

This.

From now on, it's my go-to example of how to tell a good, intelligent story and subtley build a world while still delivering jaw-dropping action setpieces. It seriously puts the vast majority of blockbusters of all genres to shame. To say nothing of action movies.
What an incredible, insane, balls-to-the-wall movie. Loved it. It's a shame it didn't do better at the box office.
