timppu: I guess they had to put Theron as the lead character this time, instead of Max. Otherwise the movie would have been considered misogynist, and we can't certainly have that.
Very true. That's the reason for the Faythe Watson character, no misogyny there, no sireee...

And now I want to play it again, with a proper sound card this time. Those moans on the beeper!

timppu: I kinda miss the 80s when they put strong female leads in action movies because it was cool, not because they had to due to gender politics and shit. You know, movies like Terminator 1-2 (esp. the latter), Aliens etc.
Furiosa was pretty damn cool tho.

And no, it's not besides the point - I don't give a rat's ass about politics, I do on the other hand care about just how damn good the movie was.

j0ekerr: I agree with you on both counts. I'm just pointing out that back when DVDs were king. You would have been hard pressed to find that sort of discount. Certainly not on major titles. Plus, BR has competition DVDs didn't have.
Aye, good point. I actually ended up quoting you in error. Meant to respond to Tallima. :)

RWarehall: My understanding is some people are upset because Theron gets as much or more screen time than "Mad Max".
But seriously, whatever, who cares.
Well, I do... kind of. If I go to see a Mad Max movie, then I want it to be about Max. Not Character X, no mather their gender. If you were to go to see a Superman movie than you want it to be about Superman. Not Supergirl. And also not Jimmy Olsen.

I have not see the movie yet (it opens here this Friday, and I will probably not see it untill next week), but I'm preparing myslef for it not really being a Mad Max movie, which is somewhat dissapointing. It might still be a great action film and I hope it is.

There, I just found the soundtrack on Spotify.
*drools*
It was okish movie. A lot of action but the craziness of Max from the first two movies felt. I had a feeling he was more of a side character in this movie. It all happened around Furiosa and the breeder women.

I read that as orkish.
Maybe it was wishful thinking on my part. But this movie feels definitely orky.

Do the people complaining about max being a side character even seen the original movies? he's a side character in 2/3 of them.Hell he probably has only 20 minutes of total screentime in the original film.

Really? Don't remember it anymore. But I was about to comment on this, lol. Why call the movie Mad Max if the main character doesn't get the spotlight? (and now this question goes for the original too).

I'm planning to see the movie anyway. Just wonderin'.

Yeah, me too. Although I will admit, I'm not a big fan of the first movie. Now the Road Warrior- that's an awesome movie.

I prefer the original, but the others were okay.
He was the main character...just not the only character of the movie. Also Fury Road is one of the first movies in a long time that was 90% action. I have to say that I loved it. Also I love having kids who have enough money to talk Mommy into letting them see a movie provided that they pay for my ticket as the driver!! I have seen 6 moviesin the last decade in theatres...mostly New Year's Eve Day matinees, and I saw Avengers AoU and Mad Max like two weekends apart!! Woohoo!
