I would first like to point out that I only saw Mad Max 1&2 fairly recently, without any nostalgia goggles The Road Warrior still holds up really well, just an awesome film. Yesterday, I watched Mad Max: Fury Road and was blown away by the adrenaline pumped visceral film making, minimal CGI and incredible practical stunts made the movie a real standout in this recent onslaught of artificial superhero comicbook movies we have been getting for the past six years.
I enjoyed it immensely and had no problem with the main character not getting all the screen time as Max was very compelling because of it, not to mention the side characters were so wonderfully psychotic and Furiosa was such a great character that deserved to be fleshed out like it was in the movie. Also one of the few movies that I noticed the 3D being effective instead of a gimmick that is shoehorned throughout like in the Marvel movies. So hats off to George Miller for a welcome return to form after all those animated movies. Its fantastic to see a director not losing their touch after so many years but actually improving with time.
It would be a real disservice to this movie if people don't watch it in the Cinema, because this is exactly the kind of picture that theaters were made for. The actors were definitely put through their paces in this one and it really adds to their performance, both Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron did a tremendous job with their roles as the chemistry between them really clicked. I am definitely going to watch it again as I am sure I missed some of the action beats with all the non-stop chaos and carnage on the screen, highly recommended.
Fenixp: Furiosa
was pretty damn cool tho.
And no, it's not besides the point - I don't give a rat's ass about politics, I do on the other hand care about just how damn good the movie was.
Indeed, I don't think about politics/agendas unless people point it out and its not my concern because that is not what I was actively looking for in the movie.
