Well, maybe you have to do something. The only thing I remember is some dialogue and the crew getting almost immediately pissed off with Guybrush. And then the ship arrives to an island (the titular one, I think).

Just missing something extremely obvious. Tends to happen.

Spoiler: The journal talks of food that puts the captain and his men to sleep. Once they wake up, they are at Monkey Island. Just need to find a damn recipe or something.

What's this journal you speak of? A hint system integrated in the remake?

I remember having trouble with that part too. Sometimes checking just the environment for clues isn't enough.

There is a hint system, not using it though.

The journal can be found in the Captain's hut. In a drawer. It's a journal of him and one crew member sailing for Monkey Island.
