Don't worry, I would not put in spoilers here :D There are enough walkthroughs in the internet for people to look for solutions if they want.
Perhaps you should just take a bring and do something different and come back to the game a bit later, that always helps me with adventures when I'm stuck.

The ship part is when you've gathered your crew and are sailing... somewhere? (My memory is very spotty. It's been years since I played it!). Isn't that part over very fast? I kind of remind it as a 'cutscene' and little else...
