GfWL or Steam, it's all the same crap to me. I'll just pirate this instead.

It's because of that is why we are getting this game on GFWL

No, it's because of shit like GFWL that I will pirate it. Game publishers are the ones shooting themselves in the foot, it's not the gamers shooting them.
I've had no problem with GFWL, honestly I'm actually happy about this since I was sure it WAS going to be steam and got all prepped to pass on it.

ok, I know that GFWL has got absolute shit for service if you live outside of North America; so if that is you, you have my condolences and I encourage you to create a new GFWL account that -claims- your location is in NA (there are several guides for this out there if you search for them).

outside of the regional issues, GFWL has got three bad habits:

#1 is that it will occasionally forget your login information, I suspect that it stores it like a login to a web page and if you clear your cookies it will wipe your saved info.

#2 is that it doesn't save your CD keys online, so if you uninstall or like #1 GFWL's stored info gets screwed up; you will need to re-enter it.

#3 is that it applies patches internally, meaning that you have to have the game running in order for it to patch ... which is about the dumbest fucking thing on the face of the earth, but at least it -only- patches the game you are running (steam's auto-patching pissed me off).

.............................

#1 is a "so fucking what" kinda issue because it doesn't happen too often but people who have gotten used to steam's more reliable retention of stored info tend to loose their minds when it happens, so *shrug* ...

#2 can be a bitch, but the way to make it easier is that you can just copy and paste your entire CD key at once. simply highlight the whole key (dashes and all) then Ctrl+V when the "enter key" screen pops up ... it's about the only CD key system that I have seen that will intelligently enter the whole key at once.

#3 .... not much can be said for this, just Alt+Tab out and let it run in the background.

I'm more concerned about the port quality than GFWL or Steam DRM atm. The extra stuff suggests that it will be good...right?

(GFWL was a real pain to set up for the first time though)
Capcom -tends- to make their PC ports a bit better than allot of others ... at least they are a bit more functional.

$10 says there will still be all that "press button X" shit still imbedded in the UI, but I've never had a CAPCOM PC title flip the fuck out and lock it's self into controller mode (*cough*Darksiders*cough) or fuck up and crash on load (*cough*DeadSpace*cough*) simply for having any sort of gaming peripheral plugged into my PC.

I've also never had any problems with disproportionate fonts rendering much of the game illegible (*cough*Bethshitia*cough*).

they also let you freely re-map your controls how you want to, something that most every PC port from western developers fuck up ...
shit, this is Namco - Bandai we are talking about here and not CAPCOM

I forgot who made the game.

CAPCOM get's most of their PC ports right and I haven't had any issues with them and GFWL combined, but Bam-Co!?!?!

no fucking clue how this will turn out, have they EVER personally released a PC game themselves?

Uhh... Resident Evil 4? Worst PC port ever? The fact that there are DMC games on the PC is also strange.

Ported by Ubisoft, same with DMC3. After those travesties, Capcom decided to do their PC ports in-house.
What's so bad about GFWL? I'm from Portugal and I have Gears of War and fallout 3 and it doesn't bother me at all... I don't have to install any crap and I can still play off-line without achievements.

For me, GFWL causes my games to lag. But that's really the biggest issue I have with it.

I don't like it but I don't hate it either, I just think it get's more hate than it should.

I also remember I played my retail version of FO3 without GFWL, had a mod that disabled it.

Would love to play it as well... but not via GFWL.

Sigh*
I'm incredibly disappointed by this news. I would not mind GFWL so much had it not deleted my 60-hour Fallout 3 save and blocked me from playing Section 8: Prejudice online with friend because I had not purchased the DLC (even though I had, GFWL just didn't recognize it).

I know they're doing it to save time because they can just take the Xbox Live netcode and replace it with the GFWL netcode with minimal changes, but it still disappoints me.
It's disappointing, but it makes sense for them to use it. GFWL is no different than any other crap we are forced to use to play new PC games nowadays, they all have their occasional problems. Refusing to buy the port over something as silly as that will just ensure they'll never bother porting another.
