One problem: Namco Bandai. No way would I buy any of their games after what they did to GOG & CDPR. None of my money finds its way into their hands. No thanks. Don't care how good the game is.

Buy it used then?

That's one way. Unless it's Steamworks, GFWL etc.
Yeah, I dislike Namco too over what they did to CDP, but I still want to play DS on PC.
Ideally From Software would selfpublish it on steam, like Remedy are doing with Alan Wake or CDP did with TW2 on gog. Namco would get nothing, we would get the game, FS would get all the money. Win win win.
Already signed, the 'Dark' games are pretty much the only games I ever considered buying a console for.

They are the publisher if I'm not mistaken. Why spite the developer by boycotting the game for a stupid move on the publisher's part?

My guess is the only reason Namco Bandai are the publisher to begin with was no other publisher wanted to take such a large risk on that type of a game.

Buy used copy from someone, then crack steamworks out if you need to.

The developer is irrelevant. As above: no money of mine goes to Namco Bandai.

For me to take a chance on a crack working properly this would have to be one very cheap, very good second hand game that I couldn't do without.

But other than that, fair point.

1. Just a hypothetical here(not bashing your stance btw)...: Say you were dying of some odd illness and the only cure for it was made by a company you didn't like or had boycotted. Deny them any money and die or buy it and live?

2. Thank you
Hmm... I like that idea. I don't mind playing it on a console, but I think it would be neat to see the souls series and other Japanese franchises make it over to the PC.

It would certainly make them more popular in the States I bet.

That and making them less of a grindfest. I mean I love the first game but c'mon. Move through a level, die.....retry, die......breath the wrong way, die.

Dude, this is a game! It is by its very nature entirely non-essential. In fact a good case could be made for me needing to have less games than I already do.

As for the cure, well there's no such thing as a cure, for starters. :P Which is a good reason to spend my final days hating a pharmaceutical industry that's only interested in treatments that it can make a continued profit from.
Demon's Souls was one of the first titles I bought for my PS3. Gawd - I don't mind a bit of challenge in a game, but I played every minute I could for three days, spent at least ten hours on the game, and couldn't get past the first level. Either I am horrifically bad at action-RPG's, which I didn't think I was, or the game's unpleasantly unintuitive. (On my best attempt, I got ten or fifteen minutes into the first level and was one-shotted by a boss hiding inside a building. Looking it up on the wiki, I discovered that boss is only there when certain things happen in the game, and it would be there all week because of a "special" event. Gad.)

I returned it and got Darksiders, now one of my favorite games :3

I was just asking out of interest, and if there WAS a cure and it was owned by a company you didn't like would you buy it and live or not buy and most likely die? C'mon humor me here. :)

I'd take the cure. But I think it would become my mission in life to justify that choice by hurting that company. I'd imagine my beef with them would probably be the fact that they've got a monopoly on a miracle cure to begin with.
