If normal adults and normal children are biologically different when it comes to sexuality, what's the logic behind calling both adults and kids whose gender doesn't match their sex the same thing-''trans''? Are trans kids and trans adults experiences the same in that department? It possibly can't be because major changes occur during puberty. But somehow, non gender matching kids and adults are the same.

This is the same thinking that people say is pushing kids to be transgender. The non-conformity with sex of kids and adults cannot ever possibly be similar unless there is some subspecies of human that is born with full hormonal and glandular maturity.

You are confusing sexuality with gender. Both exist, and both are separate characteristics. (In particular, you can expect any combination of gender identity and sexual orientation (and romantic orientation as well) to exist.)

Children can and do understand the difference between boys and girls. A boy knows that he is a boy and a girl knows that he is a girl. You can, for example, have a child who has female genitals (there is a difference even from a young age), but who knows that he is a boy, and wonders when he will grow a penis. Some transgender people do realize at such a young age.

The way you lump romantic orientation in there makes me think you see all this as self-created and subjective as romantic orientation is.

Knowing the sexual differences amounts to nothing because anyone can learn that. They cannot have the same sense of gender identity as a post puberty adult will. Otherwise all the hormones and mental and physical changes both sexually related and natural growth related don't do anything. Then again, if it isn't the case, it'll explain why so many 20-y/o tumblrinas still seem to behave like preschoolers.

Still, it does have it's advantages - at Wings & Wheels, they had portaloos which had a row of urinals in them and traffic was very fast in there - no queuing required, but the "normal" portaloos had queues of fifty people at a time.

So don't live in North Carolina. States rights is a great concept isn't it? Don't like the laws in one state, you can always move to another. There's plenty of shared safe spaces in other coastal locales. Plus wonderful weather. Not following a school policy doesn't generally make something illegal, although it may be unlawful.

I believe the law in question (HB2) doesn't actually specify a penalty. (Yes, really, it is that ridiculous. The law makes it illegal to use the wrong bathroom, but neglects to say what the penalty should be.)

Then again, I note that they rammed the law through the legislative process in under 12 hours, which is unusual (as usually it takes a long time to pass a law).

Of note, a law passed (and since repealed) in Oxford, Alabama that criminalized using the "wrong" bathroom (and actually did specify a penalty) was not proofread before being passed, as it refers to "quite solicitude" (when they, presumably, meant "quite solitude").

There are such things as cubicles in toilets - problem solved.

I really think that this is a non-issue, children already know that boys and girls have different 'bits' and the threat of attack exists anywhere. We're just used to having separate toilets, but it's just a social norm not a requirement. Our local uni has mixed sex toilets and its never been an issue.

I would have thought that having mixed sex toilets in a uni (hello alcohol) would have been the most ill-advised thing of all, but it's obviously it's fine and it shows that sometimes our fears are scarier than reality.

I think you misunderstand how the piece of legislation works. It doesn't make it illegal to go to a bathroom that doesn't match your gender identity, it just makes it unlawful for cities to pass ordinances that permits transgender people to use public restrooms based on their gender identity.

You are confusing the different parts of the law.

What you have is the following:
Part 1: Requires that multiple occupancy bathrooms/changing facilities be designated for and used only by those of a given "biological sex" (which really means "sex stated on the person's birth certificate" which, depending on the person's state of birth, may or may not be changeable). There's one sub-section that deals with schools (requiring "local boards of education" to discriminate) and another that deals with other public agencies. This is the part of the law that mandates discrimination.
Part 2: Forbids cities from imposing employment laws such as minimum wage laws.
Part 3: Forbids cities from passing stronger anti-discrimination laws than those at the state level.
Part 4: If any provision is held invalid, the rest of the act shall remain in force.
Part 5: Act effective immediately.
