I just realized no one else has the means to see in these dark tunnels. I offer to scout ahead with Shins and that Rock Elemental thingy while using my infrared vision amulet to see in the dark and relay what I see to everyone. Yes I said everyone, that includes the Drow that everyone is so scared of. We are all going to have to work together if we want to get out of these tunnels alive.

Drows. There are two. And two Half-Orcs. Personally, I'm thinking more about the penalty the Drows have on anyone but those two Half-Orcs. But they would make a good fighting team, I guess. (Of course, they would make an even better fighting team against anyone who isn't Drow, Half-Orc or Goblin. Probably unwise not to keep that in the back of my mind.)
I was wondering what we should do, if noone of us sees anything. So, your plan sounds good to me. Well, it's the only plan, if we actually want to move through this tunnel instead of choosing one, that's better lit.
I have the sneaking suspicion Doc might have planned the tunnels depending on who goes into them.

FlockeSchnee: :-) We Haflings got to stick together, don't we? Especially since it's so easy for us to get overlooked.
I was worried, you might have quit the game due to all the chaos going on. Glad you didn't. :-)
Absolutely! But we're the hin – not half o' anythin'! ;)

And aye, we may be wee, but at least we never flee.
(Though I'm known to hitch the occassional ride on a delightful damsel's knee.)

(No, I haven't absconded yet – I'm just busy at work... and running a fever. Chaos combo. :/)

FlockeSchnee: So, is Shins ok with going in front with the Stone Elemental as a protector? Tanea is in the back, but keeping her eyes open for animals (due to the smell of wet fur) to potentially calm them.
Yup, as long as it stays relatively quiet (for a bleedin' moving mountain, that is) and out of my way – and stops crunching those squeaky dungeon rats! The blood splatter is interfering with my work! To say nothing of the smell...

avatar
FlockeSchnee: Of course, she might get eaten by something coming after us through that metal great. Who knows. The ones in the middle are probably safest for now. At the very least they might get more reaction time before they get reached. :-D
Will someone please look after Tanea? Origi, where art thou?!

My thoughts exactly. Which means each one of us may have an ability or spell that will help all of us get of this dungeon.
68 - Peloquin - Dwarven Thief enters the western tunnel.

*rolls dice*

76 - Shins A'Hoy - Halfling Thief notices a trap and requests everyone waits while he disarms it including the eager warrior.

*rolls dice* trap disarmed.

13 - Roosevelt - Human Paladin casts Protection from Evil.

20 - Origi - Halfling Battlemage levitates to examine the ceiling.

*rolls dice*

The ceiling bursts into life as Nightmares, undead shadows descend on the group.

*rolls dice*

20 - Origi - Halfling Battlemage is quickly overwhelmed being so close when they attack *rolls dice* she is grabbed by two Nightmares and ripped in half right in front of her despairing companions.

Four more Nightmares descend towards the group but are kept at a distance at the moment by Roosevelts Protection from Evil spell.

The sound of conflict has drawn attention from further up the tunnel as many clawed feet can be heard approaching at speed.

20 - servobeupstry - Origi - Halfling Battlemage earns the achievement *the first of many*

Yay! Ahem... you're welcome.
But what's the bloody point of disarming traps when something wicked this way comes? I may as well leave them be for the trigger-happy beasts.

Poor Origi... we hardly knew ye. :(
*sniffs and sheds a quiet lonely tear*
OK, here's what Turn Undead does:
It turns them away from you and those close to you making them easy to destroy while they can't strike back.

Also my sword deals more damage to Undead.

How long does Protection for Evil last? If it ends this turn, then I'll cast Turn Undead to give us a fighting chance. We've got six nightmares descending upon us.

I prepare my sword to repel the nightmares.

Someone check the clawed feet coming from the other side of the tunnel!

Do I know exactly what kind of trap it was? I'm wondering if I can use a part (or all) of it to either harm – or protect us from – the approaching beasts.

I'm on it Siegfried! My sword is ready to repel whatever beasts are coming this way. Perhaps if I see them coming down the tunnel first, I can direct Tanea's "Calm Animals" spell to hit them. If that spell fails then we'll see if cold steel works.

You disarmed it, right? You can reset the trap so that it will only affect enemies. If Tanea's spell works out, then we can leave the trap there, walk around it, and use it against those Nightmares behind us while everyone tries to make their escape.

Yep, that's what I'm thinking too. I'm just being careful here. Don't want the whole plan to backfire on us (by resetting a trap that can easily snafu everything).

And I quite like the idea of modifying or repurposing (part of) it, if possible. I might as well put my skills to the test.

[68 - Peloquin - Dwarven Thief]

(from within the Circle Chamber...) The grate rattled violently. Then stopped. A chittering, hissing sound followed. Fear clamped its teeth onto my dwarven chestnuts. "My mother must be a goblin and my dad an orc! Why do I linger here?!" I curse at myself. It's now or never... I must escape this chamber! I step out of the shadows of the northwest pillar and run towards the Western tunnel entrance, light hammer still in hand. Hopefully I make it to the tunnel before that grate breaks loose! I move swiftly but cautiously. Those ahead of me would be smart to have set traps behind them, for protection should the Grate Beast (or beasts?) pursue this tunnel. As I approach the entrance, I keep a keen eye for traps and rely on my Ring of Free Movement for protection.

(now entering Western Tunnel...) A narrow escape from the chamber!!! The gods have rolled their dice and granted me luck, for now. From the corner of my eye, I witnessed a fearless half-orc shaman bravely strike that grate with a stream of flames. An anguished roar from beneath gave me hope for a mere moment, that is, until I caught sight of a giant centipede breaking through the grate, armed with steel swords at every limb! A blink is all I needed to see. Tempted as I was to shout at the clan ahead of the Western Tunnel, I did not want to attract the beast's attention. I knew they were there, somewhere, but too far ahead for me to see, even with my dwarven eyes adapted for darkness. In typical thief fashion, I hurry ahead, deeper into the tunnel, light hammer still in hand, relying on my Ring of Free Movement for protection against traps. Once happy to be a loner, now eager to meet up with the clan ahead of this tunnel...

++++++++++++++++++++++++
High constitution. Leather armour.
1 x cure poison potion.1 x heal potion.
Lockpicks. Trap disarm kit. Rope.
Ring of free movement - this ring means traps and spells to ensnare me will not work.
Shortbow and quiver of 20 enchanted arrows (paralyze).
Lucky dagger. Light hammer.

Edit: Forgot to put my actions in bold. Done!

Loradan watched in horror the Halfling getting engulfed and killed by the red Nightmares.
"Move! We can't stay in this tunnel!" he shouted again.
He wasn't even sure if he could harm those things..
He gave a quick hopeful look at Testor0 the cleric, while reading his wand and, maybe, a spell.

Don't run you fool! You'll run right into the pack of beasts coming this way! Why don't you use those powerful spells of yours to clear our path and escape.
