Fish the Half-Orc Berserker

I agree with opening one door at the time but only after it has been checked for traps. I also have a sinking feeling that Roy would be the next one to get it by following a thief. Just looking out for a fellow half-orc. I don't want to be left alone with these guys.

My apologies for not being able to update yesterday or today, real life has been getting in the way.

All threads will be updated on both the Saturday and the Sunday.

It's OK. I'm sure everyone figured something was up and would agree that real life is more important.
Not to mention the amount of work, this game surely involves (so many people).

I think we're all fine with it Doc. It's gotta be a bit crazy keeping track of it all, especially if you're also getting PMs about secret actions/rule clarifications/etc.

phaolo: ( Hey, the words I speak to others are actions too.
They could affect other people's decisions.

Example:
1- I'm waiting for Shin to check the tunnel for traps.
2- I warned him not to touch the doors before my spell.
3- I cast Detect Secrets and I reveal a protection ward on them.
4- now Shin is safe instead of dead\hurt. )
That's nice, but I'm not changing my course of action. And why do you guys keep talking about doors? Have I missed something? Doc0075 mentioned that Rufus could see actual rooms:
avatar
Doc0075: 67 - Rufus - Human Cleric throws his silver light hammer (rather than the torch he is carrying?) up the tunnel *rolls dice* where it stops he can see a room on either side of the tunnel.
Rufus starts moving up the tunnel to retrieve his hammer.

( I asked Doc more details about the scene here

Anyway, if Shin decided to ignore Loradan (why?), the mage will simply save a spell and wait for the thief to inspect everything at his risk.. )

I see, thanks a lot for the info. :)

In that case, this is what I'll be doing:
I continue my search for traps (and other secrets with hidden mechanisms). When I reach the trap that took Rufus' life, I'll see whether the others can easily avoid triggering it if I reset it and point out how it's activated. If so, I'll reset it. Lastly, I'll wait and see what Loradan's spell reveals about the doors.

** TURN 4 **

Western tunnel:

Some directional confusion caused by myself, just to clarify everyone is moving in the same direction up the tunnel away from the chamber.

Several of the companions carefully remove the spikes from 67 - Rufus - Human Cleric body and lay him down at the Druids feet.

40 - Gilius - Dwarven Druid casts resurrect on Rufus *rolls dice* the spell is successful and Rufus rises wearily to his feet.

25 - BenKii - Human Warrior hands Rufus his hammer while two sets of bloodshot, Half Orc eyes watch on, one with menace, the other hunger.

40 - Gilius, Dwarven Druid orders her Elemental to attack the remaining Nightmare *rolls dice* it pummels the Nightmare in to the wall but cannot do any real damage to the supernatural being.

13 - Roosevelt - Human Paladin moves down the tunnel to rejoin his companions.

57 - Siegfried - Human Paladin risks the DM's wrath by changing his actions but not altering his original post >:(
He attacks the two Nightmares fighting each other *rolls dice* he scores a hit on one *rolls dice* the Nightmare shrieks as it breaks free from Yeenwi's control.
*rolls dice*
The second Nightmare attacks Siegfried *rolls dice* its attack does not penetrate his arm but the blow dislocates Siegfried's arm causing him to drop his sword.

45 - Loradan - Elven Mage casts Detect Secrets *rolls dice* a Magical Ward can be seen on the door before the right room past the triggered trap.

58 - Tanea - Halfling Shaman *rolls dice* keeps control of the rats and has them stay where they are. She moves over to Shin's staying alert.

4 - Strigon - Drow Necromancer stands alert.

68 - Peloquin - Dwarven Thief scans the ceiling where the Nightmares attacked from *rolls dice* he see nothing of interest and turns his attention back to the fighting nearby.

38 - Roy Jenks - Half-Orc Battemage moves up besides Shin's, a spell ready on his lips in spite of the drool dribbling out the corner of his mouth.

76 - Shins A'Hoy - Halfling Thief examines the two doors from outside and the surrounding area for traps. A Magical ward is suddenly revealed on the door at the entrance of the right room, startling the Halfling. *rolls dice* No other traps are found. The spikes from the trap are too cumbersome to reset it effectively.
40 - Gilius, Dwarven druid

I order my stone elemental to grab and hold the nightmare it just attacked, and to move toward Siegfried so that he can strike him easily.

In case one of the remaining nightmares gets close to the elemental, I'll have it to try to hold it too, one in each arm, so that Siegfried can attack them as easily as possible. And if Siegfried doesn't attack them, the elemental will simply crush them one against the other repeatedly.

Meanwhile...

"Good to have you back, lad ! We still need you !" says Gilius to Rufus. If Rufus is still badly hurt, I'll give him a healing potion. And if it is not enough to be in good condition overall, I cast Heal on him too.

Then I ask the others : "Which door should we try first ? And how can we dispel the ward ? Anyone has any idea ?"

Does the tunnel continue past the doors or does it stop ?

Fish the Half-Orc Berserker

I vote for the door on the right. Can anyone dispell the ward? If no one can, I'll grab one of the giant rats and throw it at the ward to see what happens.

(Does a heal spell even work on magic resistant dwarves? EDIT: Sorry, got that mixed up. Rufus is human.
I just asked Doc in Chat and will let you know, when I get an answer. EDIT: Healing works normally on Dwarves.
I also have heal and I have only used one spell so far. My spells are probably less usable so maybe you should "conserve" yours? As I understand Gilius is the only one with ressurect and a Stone Elemantal probably comes in handy in a variety of situations too.)

"I'm Tanea. We didn't have the opportunity to intruduce ourselves yet," Tanea says shyly.

Tanea squeals in horror, shouts "No! Loradan, you are a mage, can't you do something about the ward?!"

--------------------
Tanea, Halfling Shaman (female)
As I make my way over to Shins, throwing nervous glances backwards at the nightmares, I notice one door on either side of the tunnel about where Rufus fell and I catch glimpses of my companions up front carefully removing the spikes from Rufus' body and laying him down at the Druid's feet, who then works some powerful magic, bringing him back to live! My wonder is shortlived as I hear Siegfried give a pained noise. As I turn around, I see his sword on the ground and his arm hanging weirdly. Why are he and Peloquin down there all alone with the Stone Elemental? And then Shins detects a Magic Ward on the right door, at which point the "not Web" Half-Orc threatens to throw a rat against it (so "Cruel" he is from now on) to see what happens, if noone can dispell it, and Web moves over to us, to Shins, drooling. A memory of him and Origi's fingers flares up in my brain and suddenly, even with all the things that already happened, it is only now, that I feel an all-consuming dread and panic ... and ... a coldness deep in my bones ... the sensation is ... strangely familiar and unfamiliar at once ...

Tanea, Halfling Shaman (female)
--------------------

58 - FlockeSchnee - Tanea - Halfling Shaman
(chat send)
Then Tanea turns to those near her and says "I sense a great power awakening".
And with that, she uses all her "charm" to get onto the back of the nearest rat, hold on to it's fur between it's shoulder blades with one hand (and her legs pressed to it's sides, but not too strongly as to not hinder it), holding her staff with the other (sideways a little up in the air so she doesn't hit the rat with it), (chat send) and then directs the rat savely past the acid trap down a path, where she doesn't hinder (and also doesn't hit with her staff) Roosevelt (heading there too), the Stone Elemental, Peloquin and Siegfried. She will hopefully be able to ride behind those two nightmares, that are with Siegfried. There she (chat send) tries to distract those two nightmares by riding past their backs while raking her staff across whatever bodypart she might be able to reach, while staying vigilant to avoid herself or the rat getting hit by the nightmares. She will try to deflect blows (to the rat and herself) with her staff, if possible.

I'm really concerned about the little shaman losing control of those vermin. What if you lose control of them while we are facing a monstrous threat? We better use them while we can. Sacrifice them if need be. Whether you agree with me or not little shaman, I'll hack those rats myself if I see any hint of trouble from them. Giant rats do make a fine meal.

Welcome back Rufus, it's good to have you back. Here, I think you dropped this. *Hands back hammer* Try not to lose it this time.

*looks back toward the Nightmares*

Uh oh, now Siegfried is in trouble. It appears only holy based weapons do damage to these monstrosities. Meaning only the Paladin's and Cleric's weapons seems to work. Rufus, I know you just got back on your feet but Siegfried is going to need you and Roosevelt's help. Would you two go see if there is still time to rescue him?

Tanea, I know you don't want to see the rats hurt but you don't want to see our friend Siegfried die either? They can help him by distracting the Nightmares so that he can get to safety.

Loradan, do you have any spell's that work against the undead or that could help our Paladin friend stay alive?
*Roosevelt rejoices in Rufus being returned to us, then shrieks in frustration about Siegried. He turns to Benkii.*

"Absolutely. I will help him take care of these monstrosities. Can anyone grant holy favor (Buffs) upon my own arm?"

*He rushes towards him to heal his damaged arm and strike down the Nightmares he is engaging with.*

"I thought we were done with these, brother. They were content to enjoin each other in combat whilst we made our escape! Alas, we must now battle them till their bitter end. Regain your weapon and we shall smite these fiends back to the Hells from whence they came!!!"
