drealmer7: OOOOoooo! Looking at all of this has moved this game up my desire list significantly. Before it was more "oh that looks fun to play, my girlfriend will definitely like it because she used to love minecraft, so I'll probably try it eventually some day when we get it for her because it looks fun enough." Now, I want to play, with conviction! I practically never play builder games, too, but this actually looks like I can do enough that my imagination would be having fun, not feeling confined. I want to make my own world!
The only real downside is that you have to collect
everything. There's no creative mode like Minecraft, and some of the items are damned rare. I've had to fight dozens of Martian Invasions to get the bricks I need for my current build.
Don't even get me started on Rainbow Bricks.
Matewis: I'm really proud of my dungeon workshop/lab. The underground farm still needs to be added, which will connect to the alchemy room
That smokestack is a nice touch.
...and I see now that the very next comment also said that, but I'm keeping my praise in, damnit!
Also liking the skull in another pic you posted.
Matewis: Shark isn't biting. Also, that duck needs to be careful
OMG, that outhouse! :-D
WingedKagouti: Started a new world, so I'd have room for a big house:

================
Alright, now that 1.3 is out and I've played around in it a bit, I've got a new world set up. Once I saw that Martian Conduit Plating, I was inspired to make something loosely based on an old SNES classic. The first pic is what I started carving out. The second is a change to the top part, since I kept running over the pressure plate and triggering it (though I really don't like the sunken elevator look to it; I'd prefer it to be flush with the floor like the game that inspired it, but putting a lever to trigger it instead looks like crap). The final pic is an alternate room lay out, and what I'll probably go with.
The lights will eventually be connected to the pressure plates that operate the doors, so the rooms will go dark as you leave them, then the next room will light up when you enter.
This entire structure is just going to be storage chests, crafting stations, and "elevators" (AKA, teleporters) to other areas, like "Norfair" (Hell), "Brinstar" (the jungle), and "Maridia" (an ocean). I'll also link to the Dungeon, but I don't really have a SM name for it. It's similar to Tourian in the role it plays, but it's not really a technologically advanced area, either. I guess I could call it that anyway, and have one going to the corruption and call that Crateria. No Wrecked Ship anywhere in sight, though, hehe.
I'm also not entirely happy with the door tube material. I'm using cogs with actuators, and gemspark blocks that are permanently actuated to (barely) light it up (the gemspark wall looked terrible). Tin plating is probably the closest I've seen to a good material, but I dunno. I haven't tried making one with it yet. I also haven't really done anything with paint, either, so if someone has a suggestion for a block/paint combo that would work better for that, I'm open to it (and the gemspark blocks can be removed as well).
