Did anyone else try to cast spells without allocating any skill points or picking up a scroll or tome of magic? I was messing around to see what would happen and if you pick the wrong combination your spell "fizzles," but if you pick the right combination without unlocking the spell you lose energy and receive a message "[NAME] is not skilled enough to cast this spell."
My minotaur mage (: D) just leveled up a while ago. The firespell makes combat so much easier, one must admit.

As does the axe I finally found.

Great stuff. Will play more tomorrow.
Game looks great, I'm glad I bought it. The mood, the mechanics, old school feeling mixed with new approach - this game is absolute hit for me.
Played it for a couple of hours and it's amazing how you get sucked into the game. You just completely forget the outside world. Also, never before have I been this excited about finding mundane objects like pants or a rock!
After 90 minutes I have to say: Truly a masterpiece.
A highly polished and refined RPG experience that defies all modern trends of mediocrity and easiness. A challenging, beautiful and intelligent game. I don't know what else to say. I really is THAT good. :)
First impression - very cool. I painstakingly created a party, then found some runes and a hidden switch. The graphics are lovely, although the game they bring to mind for me is Wolfenstein 3D as that's the closest I got to dungeon crawling when I was growing up. Needless to say, they're prettier than Wolfenstein.
It took me a while to download, since I have awful internet and I bought another game of roughly the same size (Deus Ex) to DL, and I'm still trying to get the game to work now. >_> Takes TOO long to load for me.

I played for about a half an hour and so far it's great. I was very surprised at how fast the download was, it only took 5 minutes. Love the atmosphere, can't wait to explore more later tonight.
SPOILERS MAY BE INCLUDED!

Great game. Reminds me of my younger days :). The gameplay is simple, the puzzles are easy for now, although sometimes you have to think what a particular clue is about. Currently I'm on level 3 and I think it will start becoming harder and harder. The whole party creation is amazin - although I played some older dungeon crawlers I've noticed that this is how such genres should be done now. Traits are nice although they lack of one Lizardman specific and human specific type. Also leveling gives us something more than more HP :D

In short - the game is awesome :D
Only played for about 15 mins so far, running in parallels so had to turn the graphics down, but still looks lovely, and plays just like the old classics...the guys have done a good job :)
First impression?

A-MA-ZING!

It's just CHOCK-full of atmosphere. My mother just came knocking at the door, and I almost had a heart attack, and all I was really doing was running around the first level. Maybe it gets more boring later, but this is SO easy to lose yourself in.
It's Dungeon Master in HD. It is, in other words, a nostalgia trip tour de force. Awesome.

Btw, is it just me or are the death screams also almost exactly the same as in Dungeon Master? :)
I thought the death scream sounded more like the one from XCOM
Wonderful. I only played for a cool 5 minutes but it's exactly what I was looking for (and expected). I was a bit humbled by a snail, lol, but I am sure there will be a bit of a learning process which I enjoy too. I remember when I was in the military I was jealous of this guy who had a computer that could run Dungeon Master or some variant (I think it was a variant, 1995'ish with more detailed graphics) , this MORE than makes up for it in play style and graphics :D

Can't wait to pick up all the nifty goodies along the way, woohoo!

Oh, and graphics are superb. I've not settled for a slow computer since the military, lolz, so I have it at full and it is lovely.
My first impression?
Something like... WOW... The feeling of something really classic and modern at the same time.
Me loves it long time. I hope.
