It's a sprite from the Metal Slug games. They're arcade and Neo Geo sidescrolling shooters. Pretty much the best ones :3 Here's some gameplay from Metal Slug X, which is the the fourth one, I think :)

You should play Meal Slug if you haven't yet, but don't start with X. You'll die... a LOT. :P
