According to the official website, the proper version is up on steam now, I've vaped the 6GB I downloaded before and am downloading 6 NEW GB.

Also they mention that there'll be a make up program for affected users but there's no word on what it will be as yet. As long as its not something lame & useless like team fortress 2 hats (or possibly makeup), even though the problem didn't affect me at all I still think that sort of thing is lame.

liquidsnakehpks: please do not ever mention that ....that again.......................
Mwahaha!
Steam forums are saying the new version hasn't yet been pushed out to the content servers. 50% are saying it's fixed, 50% are saying it isn't, 100% are fucking morons.
With distributed servers, it might take a while for it to be propegated across all of them.

I'm getting shitloads of speed on the download at the moment so I guess I'll know if I've redownloaded a lemon in about an hour
From what I understand, Mount & Blade: Warband managed to get the wrong patch at one point. The theory I'd heard was that they'd accidentally used a WF&S patch instead of the proper one. Got sorted in like, a day or two though.
Well I'm not sure which version I have, on the one hand it has none of the reported problems from the dev build but on the other hand the beach ball physics suck!
So judging by what happened with this game could we say that when Daggerfall was first released it was also the dev build ?
FYI for those in Japan. It seems the Green Man Gaming keys are region locked. This is actually good news =) Simply use a VPN to add the game to Steam and it appears to download the unlocked version. So it looks like we can skip the 2 month delay.

Now why they couldn't have done that with FEAR 3 U_U

KneeTheCap: I'm still waiting for my retail disc, I wonder if those are affected too?
avatar
bansama: It's a Steamworks game, so every single version is affected.

Guess this one time I should be lucky that I'm being forced to wait until November before Valve will finally let me play it. It might actually be patched by then ;)
The retail discs will contain the game files on them, the installer on the disc tells Steam to install from the DVD rather than download it from the content servers. It then verifies and downloads updates from Steam.

So, for the retail discs to be affected then the wrong version game files would need to be on them too which would be unlikely if the mix-up is just a Steam content server thing. Whether the game would verify or update, though, is another matter. Still, there are a couple of days left for retail disc release (out 9th Sept here).

Arkose: This is a disaster for Deep Silver.

wodmarach: When has Deep Silver ever been good at releasing?
/signed, DS were never a hallmark of quality, Techlands games have never appealed to me either.

Apparently there was a day one patch for PC.

The patch removed the dev commands for the dev build that was still on Steam. The patch had nothing to do with the replaced version.

There was a bunch of other stuff patched as well, 34 things iirc.
My version of Dead Island, which was set to unlock tomorrow night, unlocked a couple hours ago along with a 100MB patch. Shall I think its the fixed version and go play?

FraterPerdurabo: After the steaming turd that was Gothic 4 is vowed never to pre-order a game before. And I broke this vow for Dead Island. Fuck you, industry.
Maybe we can hope that the right version will be out by Friday? :P

Should be, the release date for DI isn't till tomorrow here but mine unlocked yesterday and seems to be the proper game
Giving you guys the heads up, this is unplayable without a gamepad. Mouse sensitivity is totally borked, so any flick will make your character do a 360 turn (or two or three), even in the slowest sensitivity option... And said slowest option makes the mouse slow to a crawl on menus.
