I don't know if this constitutes rep abuse but there is someone in here who has started manipulating my messages. He alters them when he replies to them making it look like I posted stuff I didn't. Right now it is pissing me off because it seems I'm the only one he is doing it to.
avatar
jamotide: now you too come up with wild shit
avatar
JMich: What is this "wild shit" I came up with? The time it takes to make an account? The time it takes to refresh a page, sending the data again? Or the fact that it can be automated?
Please, enlighten me. Or if you'd like, I could do a proof of concept later on. I won't mess with rep, and I will give you a good estimate of how many accounts can be made in an hour.
Ok, here is your enlightenment. I called it that because it is irrelevant to the argument at hand. It is completely ridiculous to think that I purposely changed accounts to hours in that one post no matter what wild shit you come up with.

So by "wild shit" you mean "irrelevant"? Because so far I thought "wild shit" was used for highly improbable stuff, things not based on reality and so on. If you meant irrelevant, apologies, but you did call it "wild shit", and I thought I wasn't posting anything like that.

So, did you mean "irrelevant" or "wild shit"?

My post said that 100 accounts isn't crazy. And depending on setup, 100 hours isn't crazy either, if you talk about computer hours, and use multiple computers for a distributed attacks. 10 computers running overnight do produce the results of 1 computer running for 100 hours.

So again, what is the "wild shit" I'm talking about?
avatar
tinyE: You mean like this. Honestly, that shit isn't funny. Oh, and I love Twillight. Go TEAM EDWARD!!
Who would do something like this? That is just rude.
Both, it is irrelevant wild shit. Computer hours, come on, you can't be serious.

Irrelevant is something not part of the discussion. Like saying that I am running such simulations in parallel, and did you know how fascinating Metal Oxides can be.
Wild shit is saying that GOG is actually run by aliens hell bent on conquering the Earth by doping us with gaming goodness, of extraterrestrial origin of course.

So if you do accuse me of posting "wild shit", I expect to be told why my shit is wild, even if just to show me that you do understand what I'm talking about. If there is something you do not understand, do ask for a clarification, I'll be happy to rephrase it.
The rep is meaningless but if I get booted from the forum for something I didn't even post then I'm afraid I may have to have a temper tantrum.

Hey, you have 180 rep. Well done! :D

I had 240!!!!!

Yeah it was irrelevant because we were talking about how ridiculous it was to accuse me of switching out two words.

Aww shucks, did I get a term wrong again, you people and your semantics, simply ridiculous. Ok what is the right term this time, mental disorder or mental deficiency? How about unnecessarily complicated crap to downrep someone? How about unusual effort to affect something pointless? How about crazy conspiracy theory, that enough clarification for you?

Tis' better to have repped and lost, then to have never repped at all.

And again, my post was commenting on the fact that 100 accounts are not crazy. I didn't make any comment about 100 hours. If there is any such comment on that post (which is the one you accuse me of saying wild shit) please point it out.

We are a multilingual community, thus why I am going over semantics again and again. If I call Xyem an Englishman, it's not the same as if I call him a British native, nor is it the same as if I call him a citizen of the United Kingdom. Depending on where Xyem is from, he may be offended by any (or none) of the three descriptions. If I do address him the wrong way, I do expect to be called out on it, and I will apologize.

jamotide: Ok what is the right term this time, mental disorder or mental deficiency? How about unnecessarily complicated crap to downrep someone? How about unusual effort to affect something pointless? How about crazy conspiracy theory, that enough clarification for you?
Let's go over them one by one. A person that goes through a well-thought complicated plan to effect something may have a mental disorder, but not a mental deficiency. A mental deficient person wouldn't be able to hatch a well-thought complicated plan in the first place.
Depending on how much you wish to downrep someone, making 100 accounts may not be unnecessarily complicated. For another example, I find setting up a PC with 1992 hardware to run Ultima 7 without emulation as unnecessarily complicated crap, but other users say that it only takes 2 hours and it's worth it. Which one is right, me for saying it's unnecessarily complicated or them for saying that it only takes 2 hours?
As for unusual effort to effect something pointless, it goes back to whether the "attacker" considers it pointless or not. I consider Blu-Ray video pointless and don't see any reason to watch something in 1080p when 720p is enough. Other people refuse to watch anything less than 1080p. Are they also fussing over something pointless, or am I missing the point?
And as for crazy conspiracy theory, no, I don't think that someone making 100+ accounts to derep someone is a crazy conspiracy theory, mostly due to the fact of how simple it is, even without automation. With automation, it's nothing more than an extra process running while I do something else.
Reporting for duty.

edit: seems like the thread has been mostly about arguing. Well I'm fine with that too, always interesting to observe internet fights

And again, we werent even talking about that anymore. The topic was the ridiculous accusation that I deliberately changed 100 accounts to 100 hours to gain some sort of advantage. Thats why it doesnt really matter what I called your scripting guy.
And actually I considered many alternatives before choosing wild shit, because I knew you would take that as a chance to split hairs again. I know you love doing that. Now you are probably going to explain to me how splitting hairs is the wrong term here. Have fun googling it.

Edit: Btw cant believe you really went on to define the 3 terms made up for laughs. You really are special, not even Xyem is that hilarious.

Splitting hairs is the correct term. Wild Shit isn't.
But why did you assume I was talking about 100 hours? If I was talking about you changing one word for another, I would have said so. Was my post unclear? Was my post implying anything? Did you jump to conclusions? If my comments were about the difference between 100 hours and 100 accounts, I would have included that part of the text when I quoted you. I didn't.
Read my post again. Read what I'm quoting. Tell me what is my wild shit.

I did, and I will again if needed. I am reading your arguments, and I am replying to them. If something is not said in an argument, I try to not make assumptions.
