Spec Ops: The Line is now available DRM-free. Get it 80% off until May 20th, 10pm UTC.

It’s been 6 months since Dubai was wiped off the map by a cataclysmic sandstorm. Thousands of lives were lost, including those of American soldiers sent to evacuate the city. Today, the city lies buried under sand, the world’s most opulent ruin. Now, a mysterious radio signal is picked-up from Dubai, and a Delta Recon Team is sent to infiltrate the city. Their mission is simple: Locate survivors and radio for Evac. What they find is a city in the grip of war. To save Dubai, they’ll have to find the man at the heart of its madness—Col. John Konrad.

Evixios: I enjoyed the singleplayer when the game released so I have no issue in buying it again now that it's DRM-free. Thanks GOG and 2K for the release, we need more like this on GOG.

Sadly, once again I am dissapointed by the decision to gut a GOG release, while still adding Galaxy features like achievements to the game. 2K did the same with the Bioshock 2 Original multiplayer, but I won't complain about that again.

I agree the multiplayer was pretty meh and shouldnt be brought back, but where are the co-op missions? Those co-op missions were also playable with 1 player, albeit harder. Galaxy could easily support the matchmaking if they wanted, but now we have neither.

I feel like nowadays GOG just takes the single-player from Steam releases and doesn't even look further then that. Sometimes it's for the better, and sometimes it guts a release. Which of course is also a cost/benefit decision on GOG's part, and thats fair.

But in the end it makes no sense that GOG loves to push Galaxy, which supports all the required things for easy multiplayer. And all we get are single-player releases with some achievements and cloud support. Why even bother with Galaxy features at that point? Remember when it didn't matter where you would buy your game, you would be able to play with friends on other platforms. Well seems we get neither these days.
GOG simply chose the wrong path of client development. They had to create something like an SmartSteamEmu. This solution would be API compatible with Steam (no game rewriting needed), but would not require steam servers or depend in other ways. In addition, it would be a real DRM-Free way. They could just take a game like the current one (Spec Ops: The Line), add this client to it, which would emulate the necessary calls and APIs and everything would work.
Unfortunately, instead they decided to go on a simple wrong way and just created their own useless assembly of Chromium.
Such a misunderstood title thanks to its ultra generic Call of Duty-like name. Definitely recommended to anyone who wants to see a solid third person shooter that makes you as uncomfortable as you should be in a war zone situation.

ChrisGamer300: I wouldn't call it terrible or anything and if you buy it now for 80% then you have nothing to wory about i think.
Sadly I've to worry a lot. I just have checked the Steam page of the game. It actually has a Linux version, but of course not on GOG! It's getting more and more irritating to see this lack of support for a DRM free operating system on an store which advertises DRM-freeness as it's unique selling point. Another inferior game release on GOG, very disappointing!
Nice catch GOG, wishlisted for now.
Awesome game. Can't afford to rebuy it right now at this price, not while I'm waiting on Titan Quest Atlantis to drop, but anyone thinking about a good psychological game should get this.

Enebias: This is true, and actually put me off as well.
I agree with fronzelneekburm's review on the store page, if you want to read it.

Mafwek: Well, you agreed to commit an evil action simply by playing the game. If you want "a good ending" don't play it.
You didn't get what I meant. I meant that the plot completely lacks in subtlety, it slams that evil in your face, forces your way and then mocks you for having done something you couldn't not do. It doesn't tricj you iinto it or anything, you just have to do it, and this kinda defeats the whole point of it.
Tropes and big shocks like punches and not poison, if you get the metaphor.

Seriosuly? 80% off is still to much for you? There is being resourfull and then there is cheap.

Well, the game is critique of player's escapism, not evil actions which Walker commits under your control. All the evil happens because you want to play (and finish) the game. You could have played Stardew Valley, but you chose to play military shooter and kill some dudes to be a hero, and here's the price for that.

For some people, me included, sometimes the budget for gaming is 0. Taxes, health expenses and troubles of any kind drain a lot of people everywhere in the world.
This point of view doubles when talking about re-buying something.
Don't be too hasty to judge, you don't know the conditions of others. Sometimes being "cheap" is a requirement and not a choice.

Why do you think it's up to GOG? Blame the people responsible. A bunch of 2K games have Mac and sometimes Linux versions, and zero of those are on GOG. Often that's because of Feral Interactive not allowing it, but even non-Feral ports don't show up here. The Bureau, for example, has a Mac version, the only publisher/developer is 2K, yet it's Windows-only on GOG.

Well, since my gaming budget is otherwise occupied acquiring things I don't already own elsewhere, 80% off right now isn't a great fit. Good price, just not for me, right now, for a game I already have on Steam.

Yes, and it's already been passed to GOG, we're just waiting for GOG to release it.
