Someone please tell DarkSaber2k that he won't find tentacles in the desert to upgrade his Magnum Opus.
Holy shit, I bought this over at steam before I ever learned about denuvo and I've since uninstalled and shelved it, I'm ecstatic that it's available here for only $5 to boot; thanks GoG for getting this I can actually play this in earnest!

DD & Ji Ji: Hehe . The game suddenly received a weekend deal 75% off discount on Steam .
Hmmm, let's see get a DRM-Free copy of the game, or the one that phones home requiring you to go online multiple times over the entire time that you have the game installed?

The fact that it's still infected with denuvo makes this acquisition all the sweeter!

Zoidberg: GOG needs more GOG Connect to bring people over here.
I disagree. Most people treated GOG Connect as a way to get a free DRM-free copy of a game after they purchased it on Steam. If anything it encouraged people to keep buying on Steam and expecting a free drop from GOG Connect. It's also unfair to people who have bought the game on GOG rather than obtaining it from a cheap bundle with a Steam key and then also getting it on GOG for free through Connect.

Steam version:
have Denuvo in it
don't have The Ripper DLC (unless you're in Australia).

The fact that WB still occasionally release games here gives me hope for the future ;) (Injustice 1 and 2 would be sweeeet)

Zoidberg: GOG Connect is a great idea to bring more people to GOG actually.

MarkoH01: Honestly I absolutely doubt that. I am pretty sure that most people who use connect are those who could not wait any longer and bought it on Steam even though they already preferred GOG and would have bought it here if it were available. The fraction of those who actually use Steam usually and now should convert to GOG because they get the same game for free again in my opinion is very small. That's of course only my personal opinion. Anyway, since it is not up to GOG if a game gets connect or not, it does not matter. The devs/publishers don't get anything (but good publicity) by opting in for connect ... so it does not really surprise me that connect is so rare.
Isn't it actually GOG first sending out invitations to devs/pubs for their game(s) to participate in Connect? I remember hearing something like this from a dev who participated in this programme way back in better times. No invitations = no participants = no Connect, sounds legit to me.

Also Gog staff mentioned openly on a couple of occasions that there are no plans to keep Connect running much longer. Btw Galaxy 2.0 and integration of other platforms was an attempt to axe Connect for good imo, where no drm-free copies are actually "given away for free", as you put it.

To me this boils down pretty much to whether double-dip or nay.
This game is even better than movies. The only downside is that story missions are so few.
Awesome that it's finally here! I see that due to the servers going offline, some in-game content that required an internet connection is no longer available, I take it these are not enabled in this version:

Due to changes with our network, access to certain online features for the Mad Max videogame on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Steam and Linux will no longer be available beginning Oct. 31.

Affected features include:

No longer able to access the WB Play service to obtain the Battle Brand decal for your Magnum Opus.
No longer able to access Opus War, leaderboards or redeem codes.
Scrap Crews will no longer gather materials. The "A Penny Saved" and "Dividend" non-repeating Challenges cannot be completed and could impact the ability to unlock the "Up to the Task" trophy/achievement.

Offline game modes will still be accessible.

If this is the case (honestly I don't know - I always thought it would be up to the devs/publishers only since they also are responsible for the pricing) it would be up to GOG as well, agreed.

Thats completely news to me ... then again, given how often GOG communicates with their customer base nowadays it might simply be that I missed such information. Not much blues today ;)

I wouldn't agree here. Nobody was forcing GOG to offer GOG connect in the first place - even GOG never promised that they would use this feature x times a year or anything like it. So they could simply have axed connect without Galaxy 2 as well. Also Galaxy 2 does not make DRM-free obsolete. Imo there is still a big difference if I use an optional client or a forced one. That's why I still would love to hide my Steam games in Galaxy 2 which I also own on GOG which still is not possible because Galaxy devs don't listen or don't think ... I told them three or four times but they simply did not listen "to my feedback" ... ah .. sorry for the OT :)
I like how they altered his face to be generic enough to avoid Mel Gibson lawsuits.

wolfsite: Heads up, Feral did the Linux port of this game so it won't be available here as Feral has no interest in allowing it.
avatar
Magmarock: Any idea why that might be?
They have a history of not releasing Linux versions of games on this site, the reasons though have changed to not supporting DRM free to not wanting to put the work into adding achievements and such into the games (despite Galaxy not being available on Linux thus the work not needed).
Great release! Always wanted to try this one

It doesn't seem that they have removed the "Up to the Task" achievement in the GOG version, if there is no alternative way to get it, it will need to be removed.
