Death rides again.

Darksiders II - Deathinitive Edition, a refined re-release of a fine hack'n'slash, is available now, DRM-free on GOG.com with a 20% discount, 80% loyalty deal, or even completely free for owners of the full series!

War. War has come. War beyond our control. War we cannot stop.
The four horsemen of the apocalypse have descended upon the Earth.
In Darksiders II you are Death, and your brother, War, has been dragged into an all-out battle on the face of the earth. Now, you're here to pick up the pieces and fix everything that went wrong. You'll mess stuff up on the way. Darksiders II - Deathinitive Edition brings the bloody and brutal gameplay into the current generation - among other improvements, the game looks better than ever with a completely new lighting engine and high-res textures. Death has never looked better than now.

Included in the package is also all the DLC released for the game, now scattered across the full story for a more organic and balanced experience.

Alongside the Deathinitive premiere, introducing the Nordic Franchise Loyalty Program (or plain ol' NFLP) for Darksiders - straight from the source:
• Tier 1: everybody owning Darksiders, Darksiders II, and the DLC pack on gog.com up until the release of Darksiders II Deathinitive Edition on November 5th 2015, will get the Darksiders II Deathinitive Edition for free (i.e. freebie, gratuit, gratuito, kostenlos, gratuito) - the game will be added to eligible account automatically.
• Tier 2: everybody owning Darksiders II from gog.com up until the release of Darksiders II Deathinitive Edition on November 5th 2015 will get an 80% discount during the first release week - you can find your discount code under Darksiders II in your game library.
• Tier 3: For all non-owners there will be a release discount of 20% in place for one week after release.

Ride the all-new lighting in Darksiders II - Deathinitive Edition, available now, DRM-free on GOG.com. The 20% launch discount will last for one week, until November 12, 5:59 PM GMT.
Nice, thanks to Nordic for providing this free to previous purchasers.

It doesn't show up as "owned" (yet) on the product page so I was confused for a minute but is in my library.

P1na: Always cool to see free upgrades of the games, thanks. Looking at you, Strike suit zero.

Zoidberg: Pretty cool... knowing that the game is currently 30% off on Steam...

*sigh*
avatar
P1na: That's 100% discount for me, which is considerably better than the steam one.
Thanks for that blatantly egoistical response but sometimes, jsut sometimes, it's itneresting to look at the bigger picture.

NuffCatnip: For me its 80 %.
It went to 80% off to me too (have both episodes on Steam) so I really don't know what the basic sale price is... yay for clarity :P

ThomNG: ...
Thanks for this. :) And it goes without saying, but Titan Quest and Supreme Commander pls ;)
avatar
yyahoo: Good point. I might have to test it out tonight when I get home...
I installed the game and the size is 14.5 GBs.
avatar
Siegor: Any ideas if the save games are compatible between both versions?
It's using the same folder as the older version and, thus, it picked up my old save fine.
avatar
davidcoleman: Thank you! This is awesome! How can I move my saved game to the new version? I am in the middle of playing it and I would love to not have to repeat all my progress to enjoy the new graphics!
OK. I just installed the Deathinitive Edition. It uses the same save folder as the old version and picked up my save just fine.

I love you gog.com, marry me ? :)
Wow, the free game was unexpected... I noticed the "Your Order #xxxxxxx is Complete!" e-mail after lunch this afternoon, and having a couple items saved up in my cart, thought something decided to order itself. :)

However, reading the e-mail was a pleasant surprise. Thank you Nordic and GOG!

adambiser: Does the GOG version have the save game crash issue that the Steam version seems to have?

JudasIscariot: Easily solved.

Go to your %localappdata% Darksiders2 directory and look for an options.dgbt file. Rename it and start the game.
That seems to help some, but not all.

Beat me to it... Interesting, so yeah, it appears that the system requirements might be a little roughly defined... Curious to see if anyone has any issues with running the new version on the currently defined minimum specs...
Thanks, Nordic! :)

cadillac25jg: The free gift is one of the many reasons I come to GOG first for games. They could have milked me for the deathinitive edition, but good-guy GOG & Nordic said "You bought our other Darksiders games? We cool, bro".
Yeah, very nice of them.

Seeing the Deathinitive Edition in my library was a nice little surprise to come home from work to. Thanks Nordic!

You're welcome.

I mean, you do know that owning the main game and the DLCs does not get you the game for free on Steam, right?
That's a very nice surprise.
I really appreciate the free upgrade :D

it does, but obviously not for everyone, it's restricted to a certain game id.....
