nightcraw1er.488: Just for those steam fanboys who downvoted me, and who can't read a post I will highlight the key part of the release "
Thronebreaker comes with awesome free bonus items, including the official Thronebreaker soundtrack, the digital artbook for GWENT, plus premium kegs, titles, and avatars for GWENT: The Witcher Card Game. "

Or to translate: "Gwent, Gwent, galaxy, Gwent, online only client, Gwent, galaxy".

Mind you if your stupid enough to think witcher 3 was anything else then very average, go ahead, chick your cash at them.

Linko90: Again, Thronebreak is DRM-Free and supports offline installers. If you keep up this level of posting e.g. calling those interested 'stupid' as well as ignoring information given in order to go on a rant, you will be given a cool down period.
There is no rant here, merely pointing out what the release thread clearly states:
"The digital art book for GWENT" = GWENT
"Plus premium kegs" = GWENT
"Avatars for GWENT" = GWENT
To my knowledge GWENT is still online only via Galaxy., so the translation is correct, although I used the word GWENT four times rather than 3. I did not say this new component was not available offline, but that we will see when it's released. This however is a thinly viewed push to get people on Gwent.

Tarhiel: Was it somehow officially announced? Where do you have this information from?
It is from Burza but I can't find his original statement right now. And he didn't really use the word 'canceled' but said it is 'shelved' for now.

"...Thronebreaker is a single player role-playing game that combines narrative-driven exploration with unique puzzles and card battle mechanics...."

No offense, but that sounds so generic. I cannot remember how often I have read this description of a game only to find non-inspired content. If only the creators would explain more what narrative-driven exploration, unique puzzles and card battle mechanics are or what is good about them. How unique are the puzzles really? What is cool about card battle mechanics? How narrative-driven is the exploration? What is really different to any game out there already?

RPG based Card game? [x]
The Witcher [x] (enough of it...)

I ll give it a try when 2£
OK I am sure I am in a minority here but I am actually rather excited for this.

I LOVE gwent, Inside Witcher 3. Admittedly I skipped playing the stand alone game. Not that I am adverse to online game play. Not that I have a problem with the existence of micro transactions. My problem with it was it was too high of a learning curve to get started. That points to p2w mechanisms which I am not going to buy cards just to get properly started with something.

So the concept of an offline standalone gwent game sounds great.

Except when it is looking at 30 hour campaign. I love cards and I love gwent when done right. I don't know if I would be all that ambitious to keep playing 30 hours of cards. At least not at 1$ per hour. Maybe during winter sale when it will inevitably be on sale. Hopefully as low as 15$.

That begs the question on how much development is planned for this. If there are planned expansions for this I will probably hold off all together because I am patient enough to wait and only make one purchase to get the whole game.

Oh you got us!

Red made a 30 hour single-player game that does not need galaxy, and supports offline installers, as a 'thinly viewed' method of 'pushing' people into Gwent, a multiplayer game.

You got us! Come back next month when Red makes a 60 hour RTS to release on steam purely to push GOG-Connect!

Come on now, you're getting more silly with each post on the topic Night.

Tauto: Is this a stand alone/offline game?

mdoko: Yes, it is.
Thankyou and forgive my laziness in asking this silly question.

darthspudius: Is it just me or does this game look like some mobile phone game?
its just you

Tauto: I apologize in advance for my question. Is this a stand alone/offline game? Thankyou.

mqstout: It is, but it has a lot of features to try to funnel people into CDP's online-only f2p cashgrab, GWENT. By buying this, one is supporting the psychological exploitation of one's fellow gamer. Ie, condoning unethical behavior.
Thanks, but playing online is not for me,so Gwent isn't either.

You're not the minority. The people actively posting in this forum is a vocal minority. The majority of GOG customers are happily enjoying their DRM-Free games. It just so happens that several people on the forum are raging against the Galaxy client, and they're using the Thronebreaker announcement as another venue to vent their frustrations.

Personally, I love the art style of Thronebreaker, and I'm curious about the gameplay. I hope this is a high quality release with a decently written campaign. If they manage to come even close to the level of writing seen in Witcher 3, it will be an excellent game. Other than that, I hope we'll not get a repeat of the the buggy Witcher Adventure Game.
As glad as I am to see this is indeed Galaxy-free, it looks very generic and rather like a cheap mobile game. It wouldn't be a problem if the price was significantly lower, but as is it looks rather like a overpriced cash-in on the Witcher name, and maybe on the extras for Gwent.

So yeah, sorry, but as big of a fan of the Witcher as I am, this is a pass for me.

I'll be the first to say it; this is what Gwent should have been in the first place!

Also, it is with good reason that there is so much hostility against Gwent and against the client. I can't speak for others, but I shop at GOG because of no mobile-style gaming model and because of no mandatory online client. It is bad enough that there are games on here that need the client for multiplayer, yes Gwent is one of them, and yes by any logical definition that is NOT Drm-free! I don't care if they say it is or not. I call a spade a spade.

I much appreciate the confirmations in this topic that Thronebreaker does have DRM-free offline installers. As stated, this is what I feel Gwent should have been. I remain interested in Thronebreaker. I do have reservations that it will have a lot of push trying to get the user interested in Gwent, and this is because we have seen Galaxy being pushed incessantly, so why would I expect anything different? I take comfort in holding to my principles, though.

my 2 cents , its a long text please read all of it ..... :D

i checked a video playthrough on youtube its spanish language or so, couldn't find english version.
the game looks good, it has some things i like and somethings i do not like ( flashing effects on the cards, and all village people talk with an echoed voice ? ( maybe its because the user recorded it it got some echo , or maybe not)
If i disregard the flashes ( sore eyes) and the annoying echoing voices when people talk in the vilage the game is rather good.

I dont like extra accounts in order to get the extras, if gog saysy we dont need the client forced upon us if we play local games ( single player is what i prefer, am not in for online stuff, i did that years ago on battle net but thats in the past all i want is single player, solo gaming offline and no clients needed nor online achievements)

Back to the game which looks really good..( again i do not like flashes and too many motions and i assume they cannot be turned off)
I made a screenshot of the video and roughly adapted somethings onscreen

Personally i would have put the cards on the bottom : left and right of the screen, i cloned the same cards cause there were no others but its only to show what i mean.
lanes 1,2 and 3 ( maybe 4 and 5) would have a combat area where the animated figures would 'do there thing during the fight' ( animating and things like that)
Many games have small animations showing the fight in action so the large ones could be set in the middle of the screen fighting ( the palce with the 1 2 and 3 number in it)

check the attachment

Anyway, my pc would be struggling i guess, so its a no go for me, 26 euros is a lot, then again lords of xulima was 25 euros, but they fixed the lightning to be able to shut it off in a config file.

So its not all bad , except the gwent stuff ( neverheard of it until now) i do know origin and games that have to use accounts ( dont have origin and dont want it)
like i said the game would be a game i could play ( if options were available to disable them like the flashing, cards do not need to have flames or flashing lights on them imho)

OK, I know there will be offline *installers*, but, will I be able to PLAY offline (this is, without internet connection) once the game is installed? I don't mind online installing, it's constant online PLAYING that is a problem for me. I use to travel with my laptop to places where internet is not available.
