almabrds: Fortunately the official website for the project still have the file, so I was able to get it!
I wasn't expecting Nintendo to act so quickly.
Bastards... =/
Thankfully, Hydra is already in effect. I've got three backups!
Playing it for an hour.
Game is enjoyable.
I wish there was wide screen support too. :P

Darvond: Rather DCMA things, if I were in Nintendo's shoes and heard of projects like this making a buzz, I wouldn't swat them down. I'd extend a hand, and offer them a position
True, but Nintendo is Nintendo.
(not like Konami is Konami, but still)

kusumahendra: Is Nintendo really that hostile toward fan games? I mean there are many zelda and pokemon fan game and they are still around without problem

BTW I'll wait for Linux release before downloading. This looks good
Considering they are famous for their youtube war, where they put DCMA (or wtf the initials were ;p) out on everything Nintendo, I dare say they'd go full Ape mode against game clones.

Just search "TotalBiscuit Nintendo" & you'll probably find loads about how they are.

Considering current DCMA, I guess they are pretty hostile. I completely forgot about YouTube war. Yeah, I think it was ridiculous. Never thought Nintendo would go that way. Lucky I decided to download win version. Bad news is Linux version won't ever see daylight. Sigh

RayRay13000: Just a heads up:

Metroid Database (one of the few places that's hosting the game) got a DMCA from Nintendo, and they removed the download link. Although the other downloads links (MediaFire, FileDropper, and Torrent) as well as the main website are still up, but chances are they'll be taken down sometime later. So go ahead and download the game now if you're interested in playing it.

I never played the original Metroid 2, but so far I'm really impressed with this remake.
well that was to the surprise of absolutely nobody

it was damn fast though

Nintendo is Nintendo. That means that while sometimes wily, we can trust them to be idiotic, ignorant, and incompetent. They may have targeted the Metroid Database, thinking it was the prime host. :v

Lol. Btw, I hope that the dev will manage to patch a few bugs, before the inevitable doom.
Has anyone found the Ice Beam? I am 60% in and I found not found it and I scoured every nook and crany.
Speaking of bugs, I found one - Samus takes damage by reaching open ceiling with bomb jumping. This never happens in other Metroid games (Samus will simply fall down).

Have you found the Ice Beam?
Good fucking grief these Omega Metroids are a pain in the ass I need a shit load of Super Missles to take these guys down fast enough.

Oh, that was a feature in Metroid 2. You'd take damage trying to climb off the map, for example.

You've obviously found it, but the game has reshuffled some items compared to the original, with the ice beam coming last in the series of beams. Considering you get space jump so early the ability to freeze stuff for platforms isn't worthwhile so it's mostly a damage upgrade and necessary for the final area.

And by the time i test it someone beat me to the punch.
But yeah, metroid 2 doesn't like you trying to reach orbit. (Tested it because its been so long since I played it).

As far as the Ice beam, its a late game item. You've probably found it by now since you're complaining about omegas, but yeah, its not an early game thing.

Edit: Beaten twice... just call me slowpoke
