candlesayshi: Wish there was a high-resolution textures/models pack for creatures that was faithful to the original design. Rebirth is nice but sometimes feels a bit off.

GameRager: Did you check out the systemshock.org forums? There is a Rebirth 2.0 mod, as well as a few other mods, that may be more to your liking.
Yeah. I've been a member there for a long time. Hopefully, the GOG release gives the community an extra kick for stuff like that.

Would love to see some stuff closer to the original feel, is all. Like some of the art I've seen about.

When I went into C:/GoG Games/System Shock 2, I didn't see the DataPermMods folder, but I have the DataPermanentMods folder. Do I make a DataPermMods folder, or will I have to redownload the game again?

Re-read the OP. The ss2tool will remove the DataPermanentMods folder and create a DataPermMods.

Hey Voodoo, does the Tacticool you uploaded to google docs already contain Eldron's Psi Amp? I didn't install the later, and in game I seem to be noticing the 'death star' look.
yes, it's already there.

voodoo47: "it's on the internet so it must be true", right?

as I said, the modmanager has been made for the 2.3 version of SS2. it certainly can't load the 2.4 mods (NewDark), and it has not been tested with a 2.4 (GOG) install at all. partial functionality is probably possible, but use is strongly discouraged anyway.

to put it bluntly, use it if you want, but don't come here crying if you end up with an unusable pile of files and folders.

GameRager: I am holding off on using the ModManager until I figure out for sure if it works with the newest game version/mods or not, but I was wondering: Are there plans to update the ModManager(Or are any alternatives being worked on by the modding community?) if it truly isn't compatible currently?
for the xth time - no, it will not work properly. no plans to update either, we don't have the manpower. load mods via DataPermMods, see the first post.

Thanks for the head's up.
The SHMUP mod with high quality soundtrack, is that folder suppose to be in the game directory or DataPermMods?

DataPermMods - see the first post (Installing mods).

some minor issues with ss2tool compatibility have been discovered (some files not being moved properly, potentially causing issues with certain mod combinations), and 4.9 has been taken offline. 5.0 will be available later today, double checked for GOG release compatibility.

Indy_aka_Rex: Does anyone know how to reset the controls in the game? Kiiiinda screwed the pooch and ruined the defaults
Looks like everyone missed this cry for help.
The manual lists many of the keyboard defaults if you are stuck.
This topic is actively discussed at SMA, expect more binds to pop up in the future:

Was going to download the SS2Tool but I clicked on the link and the post was last edited today saying there are some compatibility problems with the GOG version. What to do?

"Instructions for GOG.com users
Install the game. Download the attached SS2Tool program and doubleclick it. When asked, point it to your "System Shock 2" folder.
There are still remaining compatibility problems with the GOG game version which will be addressed. Download taken down until then."
Mod to remove or replace spiders would be great =)

Edit: Beware: This is NOT compatible with ADaoB and possibly other additions to the game.

I'm having no problems whatsoever, like anyone who followed the guide in the main post.
