As someone who doesn't want MP, and actually dislikes it due to all the griefers out there, I hope that GOG doesn't delay the NEXT update because they have to work on making MP functional for GOG Galaxy. I also hope we can somehow opt out of MP interaction. Hearing about the ability to join/become pirates and raid others is making me somewhat uneasy. I like the solitude. Stay off of my lawn!! ;)

Give me the update and fix MP after the fact. But, you can't please everyone. What happens is going to be a function of how many people have MP as a priority over those who don't. Hopefully this is a non-issue and we GOGlodites will get a fully functional update on release.

I can't imagine they'd force us into PvP multiplayer. Hopefully we will get the update the same day as Steam.

Most of the confirmed features seem to be based on multipayer and bass building which I'm not really interested in. They say it's their biggest update so I'm hoping there's a lot more stuff besides multiplayer features, extended bass building and updated graphics.

Not particularly interested in PvP either and won't miss it if it's not immediately (or ever) available via GoG. Thankfully, it will almost certainly be a separate game mode.

The additional base building could be cool. My current base is on a pretty mild planet: good weather, no storms ever, lazy sentinels. But I've come across some other places that would be nice to hang out in. Wonder how they'll manage the teleporters with multiple bases?

Now, if we can build anywhere, imagine how handy it could be to build a base underneath a busy Trading Post.

I'm hoping that there will be an option to opt out of pvp without opting out of multiplayer coop. but even if it is full open world pvp, the galaxy is so huge I imagine a group of players will be able to find a secluded region of space to colonize and play around in without ever running into griefers. Especially if the universe(server) we play in is exclusively other GOG players. No knock on GOG but I doubt their No Man's Sky population is nearly as large as Steam's. And even if it were just as large, I think the fact that we all opted to buy NMS through GoG indicates as a population we are already less interested in multiplayer, especially pvp. So any GoG players we run across should be more coop minded than pvp minded.
That's the theory anyways. 8)
https://hellogames.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/sections/203141025-Update-Log

That is where i hope to see the FULL details when they are published, so keep an eye on it just is case i am not around to do so :)

So it is 4-5 days until the NEXT update drops and fingers crossed we will get all the updates details on that site soon after.

Like the last few comments i'm least interested in MP (but co-op with the missus and kid one day will be cool) and want ALL the other stuff, bug fixes etc the most.

100% same. I hate any MP and anything played online. I too am strictly a single player OFFLINE person. :)
I abandoned NMS back in August 2016 and have not returned since but I got told I need to check the latest updates as they added a lot.

Hopefully GoG will have "next" available soon after the release date. I don't use galaxy, I only use offline installers and will always do so. This is why GoG is so awesome, I have the choice and never forced to use an auto updater which I hate. I like having the original install files tnat never need internet to play. Perfect.

Apparently there will be weekly updates but it all sounds like MP stuff which I hold 0 interest but for those who love it, I am happy for them and it is good there is something for everyone especially us offline players :)

Diceman65 that's a really good point. I didn't even take the smaller GoG community into consideration.
Hi All,

Cross-post here, but I asked the question in regards to MP and getting this update at all and received the reply indicated under the link below:

Read into this what you will.

Cheers
I really really hope there will be a LAN option without having to use any external software.
I can't stand this practice to not have LAN here on GOG, and force you to use Galaxy and going through the internet even to play locally.

C'mon GOG, do something and give use TRUE DRM free games

I'm 100% with you.
Whether a game supports LAN is not something GoG has any influence over.

What are the chances we GoG people will get the update at those times?

Me, I'm waiting a day or two after it's released. Just in case there are any glitches (or rather in case the inevitable glitches are too nasty).

Besides, that will give me more time to finish packing up my base and getting ready to move.
PATCH NOTES! :)

https://old.reddit.com/r/NoMansSkyTheGame/comments/91i7ff/patch_notes_next/

LOTS of juicy info there to pour over while Hello Games and GOG (and Steam) sort themselves out.

And the NEXT site is live with all the nice pics and stuff:

I'm tempted, but I am going to wait and find out about the changes in-game. Gotta discover something new, rather than peek at the "last page of the book". :)

I peeked....Turned out I couldn't resist. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
