I usually played as the barbarian or the paladin. I can't resist getting up close and personal, bashing the heads in of all the evil minions of the dark lords :-). I have played through with most characters, but I prefer good old hand to hand combat over magic and archery in my RPG games.
I could never see the 3D on the 3DS consoles. I seem to be one of the small percentage of people who can't see the 3D effect. Not that I mind, I am quite happy with my regular old Nintendo DS.

Hahaha, the paladin is my least favorite character! Barbarian is ok, the shouts are fun and all i guess. The assassin is very close combat with her dual claws (I rarely used traps) :) But I enjoyed her, sorceress and amazon the best. Necromancer wans't too too bad with his poison *stab stab*. Didn't care for the druid. ddickinson: I could never see the 3D on the 3DS consoles. I seem to be one of the small percentage of people who can't see the 3D effect. I don't normally use magic in RPGs either. I prefer stealth play. I love climbing up some insane cliff or stalking my prey and then one-shotting them with my bow.

Many thanks to , Piranjade, , ddickinson, and MadyNora for taking the time to entertain my curiosity. I will try to keep my replies brief (no promises).
@gandalfnho: I am curious if the stigma that I was privy to at that time was strictly an American thing. Regardless, I am pleased that you were able to take pride in your interests in spite of other's opinions. That was a very hard thing for me to do when I was younger.
@Piranjade: Interesting. Did you avoid those "mostly male circles" because you were shy? Or were you afraid that they would, as they ended up doing, treat you like a "unicorn"? As for the internet...yeah, it has definitely become the place where prejudice has found a new home. Hopefully, that too will pass out of fashion some day.
@HypersomniacLive: Hmm...again, this makes me curious if the "girls like girly things, boys like boyish things" gender rule that I was concious of in my youth was indeed a regional thing. I certainly didn't imagine it.
@ddickinson: Drat! You found me out! :P
That whole "boys hobby" concept is one I am familiar with and is what inspired me to ask this question. I just wasn't sure if it was society or simple nervousness that was keeping girls out of these "boys clubs" back then.
@Crewdroog: Yeah, I was incredibly shy back then, too. Even as a boy, I might not have gone up to the kids talking about GameBoy either. Thanks, social anxiety! Very cool that your mom was into it, though. My mom used to play Super Mario and Tetris back then, too.
@MadyNora: Gender stereotypes; ruining people's fun since time began. Getting blocked out of a P&P game that's using your books is just criminal. Ten years ago, half of the players in my D&D group were girls. Regardless of the past, I am glad we are (mostly) beyond this silly mentality these days.
Thanks again to everyone above and to anyone else who may still feel inclined to answer!

Klumpen0815: I just hate overpowered characters with as much personality as an amoeba. I always smile when Batman beats him again and again..
jimnorth: Batman beats up Superman (and other highly powerful heroes and villains) on a fairly regular basis. Not considered overpowered.
I like him a lot more than his Marvel counterpart Ironman.
But let's be honest:

ET3D: The only muscle-bound man I find somewhat bothering is Superman. He's supposed to be strong at the cellular level, and yet he's often depicted as if he's lifting planets all day long.
Klumpen0815: [nerdmode] Actually, Superman is strong on a telekinetic level. Telekinesis is his main treat and his invulnerability is not due to a steel like body, but thanks to a telekinetic forcefield with which he surrounds himself all the time. When he lets it down (which he nearly never does), he can do weird stuff with his mind similar to Charles Xavier, so his pumped up muscles are even more silly. [/nerdmode] Nroug7: The pessimists cup is half full, the optimists cup is half empty. Funny how alcoholic beverages work.
You forgot the third faction: Realists http://www.lolroflmao.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/3LMKq.jpg

Probably, I don't like all the constant changes of backgrounds in the comics world, it's just a sign for no ideas for doing something with what you already have and developing it further.

I do not even turn on the 3d function. It makes the game less fun to me. I prefer 2d and I do not think ill change that.

I never knew the 3D feature was optional, I thought it was an always-on feature. I don't use my DS much, I mainly used it to play the Professor Layton and Final Fantasy games.

Tekkaman-James: Of all the times I went to a comic book store or a D&D meet-up, I never saw any girls there. Yet, now, in our much more progressive times, I always hear stories about girls who have been into comics and gaming and such their whole life. So, with all that said, I pose this question to the women here: Where were you back then? Were you forced into even stricter silence due to the unfair stereotypes of the day? Or did our proverbial paths just never cross until now?
My dad got me into gaming at a very young age. See attached pic , this was at the old house so I was 4 or under in the pic. I love my dad for bring me the love of games. As for being open about my love of games and comics, I think I kept it to myself for the most part. I remember in grade school mentioning Hugo House of Horrors and a very very shy kid that everyone picked on and called a nerd pulled me aside and talked to me about the game. Others over heard him talking about the game and started to pick on him and call him names. I stood up and stated I played the same games and they stopped, but this has always stuck with me. I did not want to bring any attention to myself. I continued to play tons of games at home and chat on line with people that either had no idea I was female or did not care when I got a little older about games and gaming. In my middle and HS computer gaming was looked down on and stereotyped. It was just better to keep that part to myself and go and get the day over with.Ragnarblackmane

high rated
I just wanted to share my thoughts here, even though I doubt anyone really cares to read them:P
1. This is DDickinson's GA, therefore she is able to set any rules she likes, if it offends you then start your own giveaway only for those who are cismale. I notice a lot of the people complaining have never even hosted a giveaway, so really you should probably just not have posted anything in this thread at all because you're twice the idiot as you might have been.(If you think I'm referring to you, I probably am.)
2.We live in a world where the status of women is still not equal to the status of men. This is true across all religions, borders, and ethnicities. Get real, fellow dudes.
That's really all I have to say.

To say nothing of, you know, the fact that OP is also planning a future male only GA.1.
