LOL I meant Monkey's audio is a good name for the algorithm and file format for lossless audio data compression.

Not in due to maleness, just wanted to pop in for the discussion. OP, I just wanted to say that I really admire how you've been handling some of the more vocal hooting dickholes hurling around allegations of sexism. Rock on :) I'll be sure to keep an eye out for the next GA.

As the title suggest, this giveaway is open to all the lovely ladies of GOG, no men allowed :-p. But before you boys go sulking and burning your underwear while demanding equal rights, calm down. I will be hosting a boys only giveaway after this one, maybe ;-). So take a deep breath, put your underwear back on, and just relax.

I have met some absolutely wonderful, kind, generous and awesome girls here on GOG and thought that I would use this giveaway as a chance to recognise the many incredible ladies we have here on the GOG Forum by hosting a giveaway just for them. I was also curious to see just how many female gamers we have here on the GOG forum.

The Rules:
1. The most important rule: You must be female. Obviously I have no way of checking this, so I am relying on people's honestly.
2. Say if you are in or not and for which prize.
3. You can only enter for someone else if you have entered for yourself. (Confused? See below.)
4. Must have joined GOG before September 2014
5. No minimum rep for this one, but you must have an active presence on the forum, not just participation in giveaways and code dropping threads.
6. The giveaway will end on Sunday 2nd November, at 12:00 GMT.

The Prize:
I decided to do something a little different for this giveaway. The prizes available are a $9.99 prize or a $5.99 prize. As for the something different part, well, if you pick the lower prize (the $5.99 prize), then you get to nominate another entrant for a $5.99 prize as well. Providing that person has entered the giveaway and has also selected a $5.99 prize, then if your name is picked as the winner, you will both get a prize. You can edit your post at anytime to include your nomination. This way you can decide whether to go for a single larger prize ($9.99) or to share your prize with a fellow GOG girl. The choice is yours. Depending on the number of people entering, I may give out additional prizes as well.

For example: Girl 1 enters for a $5.99 prize and Girl 2 enters for a $5.99 prize for herself and also nominates Girl 1. If Girl 2 wins, then she and Girl 1 both get their prizes.

Optional discussion:
What are you top 3 game genres and why?

Female gamers are often considered to be just casual gamers, interested only in quick pick-up-and-play games or games with princesses, cute cuddly animals, or sweet romantic stories. I find this kind of attitude to be amusing, as I am quite the opposite, while I do like a good dose of romance and cuddly animals, I prefer my games a little darker and more in-depth and thought-provoking. Because of these inaccurate stereotypes, I was curious to see what the most popular game genres were for the ladies here at GOG.

Edit: While you boys can not enter for the prize, please feel free to post or take part in the discussion, if you wish.
I don't care about a prize, just wanted to raise my hand and say "girl here"....and I'm a not bang-bang shoot-em-up Call of Duty gamer, but an adventure gamer (Nancy Drew started it all, and Syberia and Myst are favorites). Here's to the ladies.....

Giveaways that are separate to certain demographics technically benefit both sides since less participants = higher % chance of winning, however due to the huge difference in the numbers of these demographics the % chance of one are severely smaller than the others, which btw defeats the purpose of equality between genders and delves into more serious issues.
Take it this way: If 10 females join this giveaway, they all have 10% chance of winning.
If 35 males joins their male only giveaway, they all have 2.86% chances of winning. See the difference?
It's all simple math. If we are to add both parties together, a fair chance of winning would be 2.22%.
How about I offer to pitch in for the boy GA so that we can have more prizes for the boys than we have for the girls now?
I cannot offer a money prize but I have some game codes that weren't picked from the Blood Bowl League prize pool.

Even if this thread is getting a bit derailed and ddickinson might need some time to find all the entries between all the other stuff I'll also add ;-)

I think it is a really great giveaway and there was even mentioned that there would be another giveaway too. Honestly I would not care if there was only one for girls or only one for boys. A lot of giveaways have some kind of theme and almost every giveaway has some rep or join date limitation, also excluding people. And while I can admit that chances for some people might be better in one giveaway than in another (numbers don't lie^^ I have to agree with HijacK here) this does not mean such a giveaway should not be done.
Really, this is a giveaway. Someone doing something nice for others... complaining and being offensive because of that is just ridiculous.

+1 to you ddickinson for always being generous and writing interesting posts.

That would certainly correct the issue of chances in some manner, however the accuracy is extremely dependent on an innumerable number of variables, which influence the number of people participating. Don't mind me. I just like science and math. :P Whether you participate or not it's up to you. As I said, I support both giveaways, I just dislike it when people don't do the math. :C

It's refreshing to see new ideas for giveaways. Thank you and a +1 for your generosity.
My top 3 genres are: RPGs (preferably the real RPGs not the hack and slash type popularized lately as RPGs - so think Fallout, Baldur's Gate etc...), turn based strategy aaaand point and click adventures :P.
Honorable mentions: city builders and similar sims (ie. Rollercoaster tycoon), some action/stealth games (like Tomb Raider, Dishonored etc), real time strategy games (especially the old Starcraft, Age of empires series, etc..)
I do play other games also and occasionally I even come to like them a lot, but there are some genres that I've learned to avoid (platformers, train simulators, sports games). Some of these probably because I'm a mouse and keyboard type of guy. Well time to take pajamas off and back to work :)

Are you going to get a costume for Gizmo as well? I'm not sure he would stay still long enough, but he would look so cute in a costume. A matching leopard costume would look nice :-).

If a male were to do the exact same thing, it would be very hard to not seem fatherly, slightly sexist, or kind of sleazy ; even if there is all the gallantry (not sure of the translation) of the world behind the gesture, the motivations would be suspicious by default. You know, men and women on the Internet.

But otherwise, I agree that reminding people that many hungarians here are not dudes would raise awareness that there are female hardcore point-and-clickers, and it can only bring more acceptance :-)

Pity this is not so much a giveaway thread as much as it is a discussion thread of things not related to the subject at hand (favourite genres).

Anyway, I'd suggest that next time, in order to be less controversial, you create one giveaway for liberals and one for conservatives.

As for genres, my favourites are adventure games (I include HO adventures in this) and RPG's. Not sure what to pick as third. I used to be a strategy fan, but stopped because these games are very time consuming.
