ddickinson: Does it bother you men when you see all the muscly guys with their tops off?
Yes, it's nearly as silly as boob armour (which is directing the hit rather towards the heart than away from the body...).
The amount of muscle mass on the upper body of those guys is even more ridiculous, since they would be slow as snails with this and useless in constant traveling and inefficient in combat. We had a discussion about this in another thread.

ddickinson: I do not consider the Larry games sexist. I know many do, but I think of them more of a parody of sexism. After all, the main character is a pathetic and desperate little man.
I aggree.

ET3D: The only muscle-bound man I find somewhat bothering is Superman. He's supposed to be strong at the cellular level, and yet he's often depicted as if he's lifting planets all day long.
[nerdmode] Actually, Superman is strong on a telekinetic level. Telekinesis is his main treat and his invulnerability is not due to a steel like body, but thanks to a telekinetic forcefield with which he surrounds himself all the time. When he lets it down (which he nearly never does), he can do weird stuff with his mind similar to Charles Xavier, so his pumped up muscles are even more silly. [/nerdmode]

You forgot the third faction: Realists

ddickinson: would you still be against this thread if there was no giveaway? If I had simply hosted a discussion asking the female gamers here to discuss their gaming choices, would this have been any different? If I had asked for only the women to respond because I valued their opinions, but offered no prizes, would that be any different?

Perhaps if I had started with the men's giveaway first and the women's after, there would probably not be an issue, would hosting the men's first have been different?
No giveaway and just talk wouldn't have annoyed anyone, I think.
Beginning with a boys-only-giveaway wouldn't have changed anything for me, I would have written exactly the same stuff but nobody would have read it, because the outrage of rabid feminists would probably have been so huge, that the thread would have had 10 pages in the first two hours.

BTW:
Biologically, men are naturally tending towards misandric behaviour, because they have to make a good impression on the woman (potential mating target) and shove away their competition as well.
I refuse to live this, since I try to be more advanced than the average caveman although I got the hormones.
Most of the guys speaking up for feminism are enourmously underf*****, sad but true, so beware of your friends rather than your enemies, dear feminists.

Anyway:
+1 for being consistent and going on with this giveaway,
although I REALLY hope, nobody does something similar to this in the future, you always have to worry about giving the wrong people bad ideas.

HUH?
Not qualified, but just wanted to stop in to say thank you for this great giveaway ddickinson! A shame more than that had to be said by anyone.

But if we did that, then the wrong people win. If we stopped doing things because some people get bad ideas, then what kind of forum would we have. They will always find something to react to, if we remove everything they get bad ideas about then we would be left with an empty forum, full of some very questionable people.

I know it's debatable since DC changes stuff as often as Marvel.

Wasn't even thinking about debatable. I just had never heard of that before. But then again I'm no Superman fan.
But THAT version sounds even STUPIDER than what I thought was going on! Way to go DC!
high rated
Oh and I just remembered this fun incident when I went to my local video game store.

I made a bee line to the PS3 section and this dude looks at me and says, "huh, you know where your going". And I just looked at him puzzled, because yeah, I should think most people know what gaming system they have. I then start perusing the games and pull out Reaper of Souls. Same guy says, "YOU play Diablo?" And I reply, "Hell yeah, been playing since Diablo 1!" I then raised my hands into the air and shouted, "MUST GET ALL THE LOOOOTZ!!!!" He left me alone after that.

However, for every dumb comment, you do get a nice one. When I first got my PS3 I bought a bunch of games like Borderlands 2, FO:NV, Skyrim and Dark Souls. When I checked out, the guy said in a very serious tone, "You just picked out the best games in this store" and fist bumped me. :)

Jonesy89: What's the matter, you never met a brony before?
I've heard little about them honestly. I do remember on some news channel (back when I had time to watch some TV) of a boy with his obsession with his my little pony backpack in wanting to bring it to school. He got harassed badly, still wouldn't let up and used his backpack. I say more power to him and whatnot. I'm not against individuality at all.

I just like analyzing people and discussions sometimes ^_^

Superman is my least favourite comic book character of all time.
I hope I'll not get shoved into the anti-semit category with this statement, because he is a fantasy/sci-fi version of moses.
I just hate overpowered characters with as much personality as an amoeba. I always smile when Batman beats him again and again..

Ah, the "you're just trying to get laid" bullshit. It's been a while that I have run headlong into that pile of refuse. Nevermind that any given male might not have an interest in "mating" with random people online who they will never meet, or that a male might not be monogamous and thereby does not see oneself as being in "competition" for a given partner or, and this is the key one, that any given male might actually have problems with sexism because they actually have a problem with it due to a little thing called empathy.

I was just speaking about average people and average people are neither noble nor empathic.
You have no idea how often I encountered guys like this and how well they keep up this facade in the presence of women, it's really sad.

Oh (wo)man! I'm so conflicted right now. As much as I love Borderlands 2 and New Vegas, I hate Dark Souls and (probably) Skyrim. Saying probably because I only liked the first Arena, and a bit of Daggerfall, but was sorely disappointed by the rest and never played Skyrim but it looks more of the same.
So getting back to the original topic :D

Favorite genres:

1. RPGs: I like RPGs like Gothic series, Lands of Lore like games, Elder Scrolls series. And I admit I don't like games like Baldurs Gate etc, because the issometric view is just not for me and managing big parties also annoys the heck out out me. I just want to be the hero saving the world and not sharing with others :D Favorite game of all RPGs I played is Gothic 2+AddOn.
2. Adventures: Good story and interesting puzzles and I'll be happy. All time favorite here is Day of the Tentacle, but there are so many awesome adventures, listing them all would take too much time.

Now for number three....
- Plattformers. Some good jump and run action is always a great change to the other games I play. Favorite here of course Super Mario since I played this as kid on my SNES :D
- Or a good stealth game like Thief is also fun
- Or a strategy game like Settlers, Anno, Zeus, Heroes of Might and Magic...
- Oh and then there are some nice hack and slay games like Torchlight...
- And where the heck would one put games like Zelda...

Aaaaah... ddickinson I don't like your topic, it is just too hard to decide :D

If I owned them, I totally would have had them on. Actually, I might look into investing in some. :)
