Care to make a list of games you like? Shouldn't take you too long.

You mean all the games you've played in your life? That's a huge list. ._.

And I agree with jefe, probably a troll.

Black & White. Took a few years for most reviewers to back-pedal. Gods, that game was so frustrating.

I noticed a number of people mentioning Braid, or rather, its story. I will voice my agreement, to a certain extent: the themes did not appeal to me. But then I unlocked the secret ending, and everything changed. The entire game could be interpreted in a new light.

No, I'm not going to spoil it.
Hey people, this is my first post!

I started reading this thread and found that some of you guys are completely insane when it comes to overrated games. Fortunately you're all very good at pointing out it's personal opinion we're dealing with here. ;)

So, I have a couple of games I'd like to get off my chest, and maybe someone even can refute my claims.

First of all, Assassin's Creed. I have no idea how people could view the first game as even a good game, I thought it was crap. Why (WHY?) did they have to include that synchronizer-machine and come up with such a gay story? Why are all missions exactly the same? Alright, it was fun to run around and climb to high points, but when the rest of the game was half-done, the joy I had with is was limited.

Another game that no one but me seems to dislike is Dragon Age 1 and 2. They are praised for their immersive storyline, original storytelling and great combat system, I think all of these fails to be more than average. The story is typical high fantasy from start to finish with hardly any surprises, number 2 being the absolute worst (I found it boring, even). The combat in Origins was ok, it was fun and strategic, if not somewhat repetitive. In number 2, they somehow managed to make the story even more generic and the combat less strategic and more repetitive. I can't understand how people think these are EPIC games.

Oh, and...IMO.

I agree for the most part on this. I really did enjoy Dragon Age 1, but I didn't love it like everyone else did, and I'm a nut for that kind of game. The story was so generic and copy paste, the combat wasn't that great, visually atrocious too. However it had it's moments when it was pretty cool. I really enjoyed the dwarf moria rip off place, especially when you find the origins of the darkspawn. But other than that, it was an alright game I guess.

DA 2 on the other hand was just garbage. But I really really liked the main character, especially the default. My favorite Bioware main character. You can be a super sarcastic, sometimes serious ass. Other than that, a horrible script, unimpressive combat or visuals and a weaker story than the last made it lame. Oh yea, and the amount of recycled stuff was really bad too.

Whitecroc: Black & White.
This, I was ready to kill Molyneux for this travesty. I'd just finished playing Sacrifice when I started playing it and I was floored by just how bad Black & White was in comparison.

Joppelarius: 2) Sacrifice and Citizen's Giant: Kabuto (or sth): two different genre games with sort of the same look, from the same gaming era. They were praised in the media but sold pretty poorly. I thought they were absolute crap, I agree with everyone who didn't buy them, and strongly disagree with the suspiciously high number of positive reviews on them.
I bought both of these within 6 months of release and really loved them both. Giants was pretty badly balanced multiplayer, it was mostly for the story that I loved it. Sacrifice would have had brilliant multiplayer but I never found any games. The story was pretty fun, the top level spells truly epic. The final level was annoying and unbalanced, though.

Hey back first post dude! :-)

While you are somewhat right about DA1 - as in loved by largely everyone, you must be new to the gaming continent of Internetz as well - and not too far into it, otherwise you would've noticed that black, barren, still smouldering wasteland left by red hot flames of fan reaction to DA2.

Grithor: Fallout 3.
I found the game design including the overall world, quests and dialogue to be bland to say the least.
Definitely not deserving the overall massive praise in my opinion.
avatar
jefequeso: I agree. The game just exudes blandness. The only thing that makes it worth mentioning is the atmosphere (which is pretty good) and the sheer scale. None of the minute-to-minute gameplay is good at all.
+1, took the words out of my mouth (keyboard)
Mass Effect 2.
Is there any reason why the OP is downrated or these forums are being Steamified?
GTAs - the boringest games evar.

Mass Effect series - corridor shooters.

Witcher 2 - mess.

Half-Life 2 - empty static world.

Mafia 2 - press x to cover and y to shoot, walk stairs 90% of game time.

Halo - the biggest wtf on pc.

Shadow of the Colossus - masochists only.

Human Devolution - the title says it all.

Commandos 2 - who killed commandos and replaced them with plastic action figures?

Thief 2 - robots absolutely out of place, no atmosphere, poor level design. probably my biggest disappointment evar.

I'm sure theres more..

It's the latter, I'm afraid.

Seriously, people, use the minus button only for spam, deliberate trolling or something that is strongly offensive. That's what it's for. Not for disagreement. Not to cleanse the board of threads you personally don't like. It's not that hard to understand.
