Halo 2
Halo 3

Fuzzyfireball: Halo was only impressive to the console only crowd.
I was impressed by Halo, and have been impressed with every Halo game since (except the newest.. Haven't had time to check it out with GOG's christmas sale going). I belonged to the "never-owned-a-console"-crowd.. I have a 360 now.

Aaron86: Crysis.

I've heard the rumors that it is mostly a graphical tech demo, but I also heard it has a fairly open levels. I play it, the openness of the levels fall short, and I conclude Crysis really is a tech demo.
I thought it was an overpriced shareware title, ending on a miniboss and all. Though, i remember the actual Tech Demos for Crysis shown some neat gameplay [tac ammo], the game itself lacked all those neat ideas. So, it's kind of a graphical tech demo of a tech demo. Still, a wasted effort, thank gawd i can blame EA for that, and Crytek's chief guy's crap.

Sweet! Now where did I put my lynching suit on?

Seriously, Halo was soooooo subpar it wasn't funny. I admit, I can UNDERSTAND why the console owners of that time gasped in relief due to having a correctly coded and workable console FPS for once but seriously, the amount of fanboy fanwankdom that this caused... For a mediocre game...

The shame.

captfitz: in that case, have you guys ever encountered a hack n slash that you liked? i can't think of one that isn't just repeating the same three things over and over. though i do love them
Nox is hack and slash right? so much superior to diablo

I feel the same way about DOOM (@Fuzzyfireball)..
Rubbish from beginning to end!

I do agree on the ridiculous amount of fanboys though, I've never understood that either. I did however enjoy the games .

GameRager: This has got to be a joke.....most of that list are some of the best games of all time on gog and elsewhere, in their respective genres.
No joke these were games i had heard great things about and when i actually played them while not necessarily bad they are in my opinion not worthy of the praise they receive.

VTMB was alright but did nothing particularly well imo. The characters were ok, dialogue wasn't great nor was the combat and the hotel level which i had heard so much about was noting special.
I enjoyed starcraft when i first played it but there are much better RTSs released both before and after that got nowhere near as much attention and praise.
I really liked PST and the icewind dale games are also good but i don't like BG 2 for a variety of reasons and i don't like bg1 because the PC moves very slowly which i find very annoying. In hindsight i should have just said BG2.
The shooting sucks in BF2 and that's all it has.
I didn't enjoy supreme commander and seeing as it is constantly compared to TA it is very overrated.

Those are the reasons i think they're overrated. I'm not trolling or being smug.

He has a point. I agree with you on Starcraft and Supreme Commander. About it really. Other than that you're insane. ;)

Fair enough. Everyone's entitled to their opinions. For me, I have a couple of often similarly ranked games which I think are really overrated listed below, although not necessarily bad by any means - I actually did enjoy many of them.

Final Fantasy VII
Crysis
Halo (entire series)
Call of Duty (entire series)
Medal of Honor (entire series)
Half-Life 1
Mass Effect 1
Jade Empire
BioShock 2 (A little of BioShock 1 as well, I guess)
The Longest Journey
Syberia 1 & 2
Gears of War

I don't think Jade Empire can be considered overrated.

GoJays2025: Half-Life 1 singleplayer
Fixed that for ya. :p

The singleplayer story was messed up, if you make a game with that kind of story now, it will no doubt be with terrible ratings.

The multiplayer though, well, that thing was so much fun! It still is!

I can't say I agree on CoD, MoH, Crysis. Modern Warfare is an amazing game, and I've had nothing but wonderful memories playing the first few CoDs and MoHs in multiplayer. Crysis, well, its an amazing shooter if you have the machine to run it on, the physics are brilliant, it beats any other shooter in that aspect.
