UPDATE 22.04.2011:
We have uploaded a new version of the Downloader (0.9.0.1218). Please download it at your convenience and let us know if any of the problems you experienced earlier still persist.
Major changes include:
fixed problems with logging on,
the Downloader no longer attempts to move files after changing the destination folder,
you can now change the number of concurrent downloads (1 to 10) in the Downloader's options, in case you think the Downloader is overusing your connection.

UPDATE #2 (22.04.2011):
Version 0.9.0.1224 is out, introducing some backend fixes.

Well, it's downloading Far Cry at around 15mbps average...very consistent, and much more than the previous 5mbps average, so...I love it.

After pausing with the icon on the left side, I can't resume using the same button. Not sure if this is by design, but it seems illogical.

Also stylized scroll bar, menu, etc. as before, and minimize button. Pretty please.

cheesetruncheon: Will the downloader work with the other extras that GOG have for their games? if so does anybody have an Idea how to manually write a link for any of these things?
Requesting an answer for this!
I'm having some problem logging into the downloader it always crashes.

I've tried the admin settings and unzip it with different programs.

I'm on Vista x64, Intel Core i7 2.67GHZ, Ati 6000series(6670), 6GBof ram

hmm, tried it with Another World... downloaded really fast, but after combining, the chunk files were not deleted and the set up file is corrupt (does not even start to run).

Oh, forgot to add: it has passed the integrity check in the downloader.

I have the auto-install option enabled. Downloaded two games simultaneously (Duke 3D first then Tyrian). Duke did not open the install process while Tyrian did.

This folder (attachment) was made in my install directory. It should have gone into G:\GameStuff\GOG. Tyrian went there.

Maybe it was just a one-time deal, but that's all I've noticed wrong.

Somehow I missed this announcement yesterday. Well, since this is Good Friday, which means holiday, which in turns means I am at home with poor internet connection, I will have to wait until I get back to office to test the new downloader. I hope it will work in Linux using wine.

A question, though: will the old Adobe Air downloader still work? The reason I ask is because I actually mostly use it and never have problems with it although lots of people seem to have problem with it. So if the new downloader is not working for me, I am curious in whether I will still be able to use the old downloader.

I tried it with the latest version of wine, and I can't login.
Also, I can't change my password on the site, but thats another issue.
Tried it, it ran smooth and downloaded correctly.

Running Vista, didn't need Admin rights.

I like it so far! Nice job!

Ouch... then I hope the old * broken * downloader still works as a backup.

At least I found the specific error in the login.

err:wininet:NETCON_secure_connect SSL_connect failed: 12037
I can't login :<.

Windows 7 64 bit (english, proffesional, original :P), 4gb of ram, gtx 560 ti.

I'm sad T.T
I can't log in because my password is too long for the input field. I can tell because I hear the windows chime indicating the password field is full before I can finish my password.

You might try not bothering. Just make sure you're logged in here and type the address into the URL bar. I found that doing so logged me in automatically.
Downloads at about 50% of my max average, i usually max out around 1300kb/s

Also i tried to link into gogdownloader://painkiller_black_edition

and it errored out unable to fetch data... so when i tried to Right Click remove from list and disk the program crashed...

I noticed it sees other downloads then the normal from my archive folder which is D:\Games\GOG to i moved it to D:\Games\GOG\Downloads and now the program is renaming* and copying the entire contents of D:\Games\GOG into D:\Games\GOG\Downloads

*by renaming i mean its removing all uppercase letters from the filenames

Well, the new downloader works.

And it does a very good job of maxing out my internet connection for the fastest download.

And that's a problem.

It slams my net connection so hard I have almost a minute's lag trying to send an instant message.

Please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please PLEASE implement a download rate limiter.

Wget and curl have had the technology to do that for decades now. it can't be all THAT hard to implement.

EDIT
Holy cow. I have found a MASSIVE BUG in the new downloader.

I tried to move the download location to Z:\\GOG Downloads\ which is on a network drive. It's where all my downloaded GOG games are.

The downloader chugged for a bit, then reported that there was an error calculating free space, and it couldn't move the download location.

And it DELETED EVERY FILE IN THAT DIRECTORY.

I now have to redownload every single one of my GOG game installers.
