UPDATE 22.04.2011:
We have uploaded a new version of the Downloader (0.9.0.1218). Please download it at your convenience and let us know if any of the problems you experienced earlier still persist.
Major changes include:
fixed problems with logging on,
the Downloader no longer attempts to move files after changing the destination folder,
you can now change the number of concurrent downloads (1 to 10) in the Downloader's options, in case you think the Downloader is overusing your connection.

UPDATE #2 (22.04.2011):
Version 0.9.0.1224 is out, introducing some backend fixes.

i also have problems with login in the downloader, only letters and numbers in my pass.
Because the GOG downloader doesn't seem to join the chunks on a per-file basis, but rather on a per download basis, I've written a small .NET program which joins the chunks together in order to avoid re-downloading several GB of data for the files that were complete (in my case this saved me re-downloading 4 GB of data).

As I don't know whether providing links here is allowed, drop me a PM in case someone is interested.

It's allowed. Nice work, by the way!
How about:

1) Letting the program to actually start the setup after the download finishes, and
2) Providing a "Open in folder" option under the right click menu.
So there is only 2 ways to download this thing through GOG. through this new software and in chunks through your browser??

and I still have the original question. if any mods are on.

I can't login either! Unable to access my Witcher 2 purchase. I downloaded about 60% of it and the next time I started the downloader it just keeps rejecting my login.

Password was 8 lower case letters. I've changed it to something more secure now, but it doesn't work either way.

Sucks :(

EDIT: I uninstalled the Downloader and ran the downloaded EXE again. It started up properly and is now downloading :)

This is my first time using GoG and I got the Witcher. The program seemed to work with a good download speed but CONSTANTLY stops downloading for no reason. I thought it was because I had a fullscreen app going so when I went to bed I figured my DL would be ready, however it randomly stopped overnight and couldnt have been DLing for more than an hour. The program will just be green light, online, and say 0 KB/s. I cant start it but I can pause it and restart it, however having to baby a download is stupid.

I am actively checking to see when it stops DLing now. Im pretty sure my internet didnt go out several times today either. I dont use screensavers or powersaving anything either btw (I generally turn my computer off if I dont need it).

64bit vista
Microsoft Security Essentials
Linksys E1000 router
2.5mbps/1mbps DSL
I'm getting pretty much the same connection problems as everyone else. I can login with the downloader and even add stuff to the queue, but it doesn't download anything (hardly). I left it on all night long to download Septerra Core (about ~572MB) and it only downloaded about 25MB.

It's like someone turned the Downloader into a bad P2P system with no seeds and a few "incomplete" peers.
My recommendation to everyone having trouble finishing their downloads due to a rectractable GOG downloader:

Follow either #1 or #2.

#1:
- use the small tool I linked to earlier on in this thread to join the '.chunk' files into the 'big' files (the chunk files are nothing more than the 'big' files sliced into small portions of around 10 MB)
- download the remaining 'big' files the GOG downloader either hasn't downloaded fully or not at all

or
#2:
- completely ditch the GOG downloader and the stuff it downloaded so far and re-download the complete 'package' (that is, all files) using the web download

Obviously,
#1 will save you time and bandwidth as it avoids re-downloading the 'big' files that are already completely downloaded to your harddrive (only, they exist as chunk files) while at the same time requiring a certain (albeit minimal) amount of common sense (for example, you need to know whether or not you have downloaded all chunk files belonging to a 'big' file in order to 'join' them).

#2 is the most simple method as the only required skill is to be able to download files via your browser of choice.

Sorry for my bad english.

The download of the game "The Witcher" has reached about 2GB, then restart the download from scratch.

What might be happening?

I am using "GOG Downloader".
Hey i have only this file :
setup_the_witcher_enhanced_edition-3.bin.chunk0 missing (or so i believe)
when i tell GOG d/ler to continue he tries to d/l this file and fails.....and i can see that this chunk is missing , anyway to get this chunk alone?
