Awesome daily deals and bundles up to -90%. Free games to unlock. Fuzzy squirrel on the front page.

Ah yes. Fall. A time of gold and scarlet, overcoats, and increasingly cozy afternoons. A fine time to start stocking up for the winter. A fine time for a gaming sale indeed… So welcome to the Big Fall Sale - 11 days of new daily deals every 12 hours, a new set of bundles every 24 hours and free games to unlock.

The Big Fall Sale goes to eleven. It's one better, isn't it?
Today, the last day of the Big Fall Finale, is also a day of all the remaining daily deals - there's just so many of them. It's the time to grab everything you might be kinda into, and just maybe it'll also score you a free game or two, or three.

As we wind down the deals and pack our bundles, there's just one more thing to say: thanks for joining us in the Big Fall Sale!

While you're here, grab a few extra games for free by doing your thing and shopping around. The more you spend, the more you'll get back, so when your total spendings exceed $5, $15, and $30, you'll unlock a new game for FREE. They're pretty good ones too:

jpwiseguy: If we missed a game, will there be another chance to buy it at the end of the sale?
i too would like to know this answer....anyone know?

That's been the pattern for past seasonal sales, but we have no definite answers from the staff.

Fairfox: Is the Grim Fandago 'remaster' worth it? I love(d) the original, but if I bought this it'd be half of the money I've allotted myself for a game I already have in the closet. At least it'd work natively on modern systems.
I think it is, Haven't played the original but when I switch to the original rendering option it kinda looks shit. :P
You also avoid having to deal with the tank controls.

Would be really great... I missed the games I wanted because my bank blocked my card. I'm so sad :(
avatar
muntdefems: Really? How can you do that? I don't seem to find how to do it...
Ooops.... I'm using Barfoot Essentials script, and it's one of his feature ! Sorry for the mistake (I'm using it since only few days).
I suggest you to try it if you can !

dj-fedos: because my bank blocked my card.
Did you verify this with your bank? It may have actually been GOG's payment processor. It happened to me (still being blocked by GOG today) and happened to someone else in Central Europe, so I don't believe it's a function of geography. If your bank tells you everything should be OK, open a support ticket with GOG. They're aware of the problem, but more tickets can't hurt.

HunchBluntley: As I mentioned, I only counted the titles in the Big Fall Sale section of the main page (basically, everything above the skinny, purple horizontal "Try GOG Galaxy..." banner, ignoring the 'Highlights' section & the 'Staff Picks' tab). Daily Bundles contain 3 + 3 + 36 +15 = 57; 'Roleplay' tab contains 58; 'Adventure' tab contains 66; 'Thinking' tab contains 124; 'Action' tab contains 123. However, in looking through the page again, I notice that the second LoH: Trails in the Sky game is in the 'Roleplay' tab, but not actually discounted (I only counted tiles, not discount flags, assuming everything in those four tabs would be discounted -- silly me). This brings the total down to 427 in the Sale section -- a difference of 8 from the 435 on the Games page. Of those eight, we have the 2 aforementioned Hard West packages (from the 'Upcoming' tab in the "normal" section of the page), the latest The Escapists DLC, the DLC pack for Hyperdipsomania Noobtuna Rhubarb (I might be a bit off on that title ;D ), and GALAK-Z (gleaned from the 'New' tab), as well as that Stasis upgrade DLC you found. That still leaves 2. Do you remember what they are? I'm sure as hell not gonna spend any more time investigating this tonight -- and by morning, there'll be newly discounted games to consider! =)

Anyway, I'm knocking off for the night. ¦ )

zlep: I didn't look at the "New" tab - I don't really see those lists as advertising games, although I suppose they are. I only counted the Fall Sale stuff up the top and the Headlines section that pushes all the latest releases and specials. The sixth game under Headlines is The Escapists main game (it's in the promo for the new DLC).
I didn't count those in my tally, either; I simply took note of any discounted new releases/pre-orders in those "regular" tab sections and checked them against the sale promo to make sure they weren't advertised in that section -- and even then, only on my second time through, after your dissenting post. ;) This was a hell of lot simpler than going through the catalog on the Games page looking for the few odd men out. =)

zlep: Good catch on the second Trails game not actually being discounted - there must be a second item in the search list not on the front page. I took another look, but it's not jumping out at me, and I don't have the stamina to actually check 430+ games. ^_^ I just go by intuition. [...]
And good catch with the Stasis upgrade thing. But note that I took it into account in my last comparison, and there were still 2 titles not accounted for. Oh, well. ;)

Future generations will surely castigate us for not documenting this knowledge for posterity. How we've failed them! =D

Petrell: The whole point of free bonus games is to give incentive for people to spend more during the sale
Look, I know how it's supposed to work I simply don't support that kind of sales trickery at all. The notion that those games ought to be exclusively reserved for a certain crowd strikes me as just as odd and nonsensical as the 'earn free games' concept.

avatar
Petrell: ... (like I picked some "maybe one day" games from my wishlist in last promo to get Xenonauts)...
Sure, and that's fine though personally I would never make such a purchase.

avatar
Petrell: ... and deep discount defeats the whole point of the offer...
Perhaps, if at first you really weren't interested in spending a lot but I think lots of people still feel incentivized (due to the 'earn free games' claim) even though the games are part of the regular sale.

Just a poor choice of words, I guess? Maybe they should refer to them as bonus games or something like that.

Oh, yeah... I have to try one of these enhancement scripts someday. :P

Thanx!

Yes, they are more appropriately promotional items than truly free items. Put it in the same context as a sale at a bricks-and-mortar store - free items you get just for stopping by, promotional items you get based on how much you spend. So you get a "free tote bag" for coming in the store, but a "free promotional umbrella when you spend $35 or more" only if you meet the purchasing criteria.

I'm absolutely sure it's intentional - just like their 'select more to save more' sales pitch - but I fully agree with you that it's better if people consider them bonuses rather than free games.

fan3l: Free means free.
No unlocks or something.

Fredd38: It's called a sale, not a give.
+1, this gave me a chuckle.
