ktchong: How long is this sale going to last?
"The sale will last until November 15, 1:59 PM GMT" (OP).

ktchong: Is there a discussion thread that keeps track of the list of games on sales?
Not at the moment. People have programs that do a better job of collecting the information than someone typing it out twice a day for a week and a half, which people then have to dig through manually.
Also, the whole longhand typing thing tends to make the person doing it lose their mind a little in the process.

The more I look at it, the more the trees look like spikes and the squirrel looks like they're made out of sharp, jagged shards.
Along with that, fairly sure they intend to bludgeon whatever's hiding in the tree to death with that nut if it tries to escape.

joppo: Yes, both Commandos packs are being displayed in those slots
Thank you for looking that up.

Very well, then. It feels bad to feel good about being wrong about not being right when that's simply wrong.

I bet it's Theodore 'GOG bear' Fourofourski.

If that's the GOG Bear in that squirrel costume, he's lost quite a lot of weight since I saw him last. Then again, living in a post-apocalyptic landscape bludgeoning trunk-dwellers to death will do that to you.

Unless you meant the GOG Bear is the one in the tree trunk... in which case he's lost even more weight..., or that's a worryingly huge mutant squirrel (not too much of a stretch considering our other conclusions).

dick1982: Lin545 : hiding and reporting all spammy unsolicited posts from him. i know the gog staff don't give a shit, but this guy is just over-zealous and stalkerish. you want me out of your previous topics, i'm out. now get off my stinky asshole... ah fuck it, he's never listening.
O_o
I spent 3 hours making list of discounted games to purchase, then go to the selling thread, see your question and reply that its (newer) windows not compatible, not games themselves broken. How is this unsolicited? Overzealous? Stalkerish? Stinky assholes? Boahhh.....

Btw, just spent $36 on games, but the website setting resetted to euro. Now it shows all three points green in free codes, but when I click on green dots, every single entry, where I suppose the code should be -- is blank....! And if I try to switch to USD below, then I get a warning in that box above - and if I proceed, the bar is empty. Should I switch back to EUR below, again - three green checkpoints, with no codes inside.

Has someone been able to redeem the free code there?

Great deals. No annoying "limited supply" or Insomnia gimmicks.

Would prefer daily deals actually last a full day, but at least there's a timer.

Good job, GOG. :)
Oh please, give us a squirrel wallpaper!

:)

Kunovski: EDIT:
ok, actually I can't do that anymore apparently, as the gift page disappeared from GOG website during the upgrades... :P anyways...
avatar
Nesoo: Go to your Account page, Orders & Settings, then click the Orders History thing and uncheck your actual purchases, leaving the gift ones checked. See pic.
hi :)

yes, I've been there - but this page seems to show only codes that were bought, not given for free by GOG :)

but anyways, I'm quite sure it's been redeemed ;)

zlep: I can think of several ways to do it. Probably the easiest and most effective would be to put 4 little boxes (the size of the smallest game box) in a row between the Highlights and Staff Picks sections. Label each with something like "Daily Deals - Roleplay", "Daily Deals - Adventure", etc. Adding them as a single graphically displayed row would ensure they weren't overlooked without detracting attention from the featured games in those other two sections.

And yes, obviously "dump it all in a huge pile" is a worse solution, but there are plenty of options for displaying things on webpages these days. There's nothing intrinsically wrong with the tabs option, but in this case they don't look particularly like tabs. Both the font and the line below the words look exactly like the non-tab titles above all the other sections, so they're very easy to overlook as your eyes flow from picture box to picture box.
Fair enough -- they could certainly make the tabs more visible. However, there will always be someone confused by whatever design choice they make, and I haven't seen nearly as many comments here about the tabs "issue" as I have about people not understanding the revolving Daily Deals/Bundles scheme (which is shameful, considering it's described pretty thoroughly in the "More Info" pop-up right under the sale banner. (I guess they need to make that button four times as large and put blinking lights on it so more people will notice it. =P )

HunchBluntley: Currently, when you filter the games catalog by 'discounted', it shows 435 games; when I counted the items in the sale section of the front page earlier today (hey, I was curious, and had some free time...), there were a total of 428 (ignoring everything in the 'Highlights' and 'Staff Picks' sections, since, AFAICT, they're duplicates of games also displayed elsewhere). There may not be many discounted items that aren't promoted on the main page (and two of those 435 are the Hard West pre-order items), but there are a few.
avatar
zlep: This didn't sound right to me. Sure I could be wrong, but 7 games seemed like too many for me to miss, so I double-checked your numbers. There are 434 games on sale promoted on the main page, including the Hard West games. As you mention, you only counted the Fall Sale games, which don't include all the current promos.

That left 1 extra entry on the discounted search page, and since I knew it was there this time, it stood out. It's the Stasis Deluxe Edition upgrade. The main page advertises both the standard and deluxe editions, but not the upgrade between the two, so technically there's an item actually in the Fall Sale that didn't get advertised on the main page. Presumably GOG doesn't consider upgrade options to be sexy items...
As I mentioned, I only counted the titles in the Big Fall Sale section of the main page (basically, everything above the skinny, purple horizontal "Try GOG Galaxy..." banner, ignoring the 'Highlights' section & the 'Staff Picks' tab). Daily Bundles contain 3 + 3 + 36 +15 = 57; 'Roleplay' tab contains 58; 'Adventure' tab contains 66; 'Thinking' tab contains 124; 'Action' tab contains 123. However, in looking through the page again, I notice that the second LoH: Trails in the Sky game is in the 'Roleplay' tab, but not actually discounted (I only counted tiles, not discount flags, assuming everything in those four tabs would be discounted -- silly me). This brings the total down to 427 in the Sale section -- a difference of 8 from the 435 on the Games page. Of those eight, we have the 2 aforementioned Hard West packages (from the 'Upcoming' tab in the "normal" section of the page), the latest The Escapists DLC, the DLC pack for Hyperdipsomania Noobtuna Rhubarb (I might be a bit off on that title ;D ), and GALAK-Z (gleaned from the 'New' tab), as well as that Stasis upgrade DLC you found. That still leaves 2. Do you remember what they are? I'm sure as hell not gonna spend any more time investigating this tonight -- and by morning, there'll be newly discounted games to consider! =)

Anyway, I'm knocking off for the night. ¦ )

EDIT: Closed parenthesis. :)

I own all 4 Gothic games, however on the store front page it shows that I only own one of them. If I go to each individual game's page, the games do not show that I own them. However if I go to my game library and find the Gothic games and click to view the store page, each one of the 4 games takes me to the store page for that game, which then proceeds to tell me I don't own it even though I got to that page by owning it and clicking on the link to the store page.

Something is wonky in GOG databaseland, and not just the random price fluctuations that show up on certain games on page reloads...
Sorry if it was already mentioned somewhere else, but I received the GOG newsletter about the Fall Sale and it mentions a "Supreme Shooters" bundle coming soon on Doom (and maybe Wolfenstein/Quake) games with a - 66% off.

So, if you want some Bethesda shooters, save your money !

It seems to be quite random which games are shown as "owned" by me on the frontpage, but if I go to the games page, it usually shows it properly.

During sales the front page is unreliable about ownership. Most of my collection isn't showing as owned on the front page right now. The actual games pages are a different issue. That's definitely odd. Have you tried refreshing your account? That usually fixes weirdness like missing or partially missing games, so it's worth a try. The page that does it is:
