Awesome daily deals and bundles up to -90%. Free games to unlock. Fuzzy squirrel on the front page.

Ah yes. Fall. A time of gold and scarlet, overcoats, and increasingly cozy afternoons. A fine time to start stocking up for the winter. A fine time for a gaming sale indeed… So welcome to the Big Fall Sale - 11 days of new daily deals every 12 hours, a new set of bundles every 24 hours and free games to unlock.

The Big Fall Sale goes to eleven. It's one better, isn't it?
Today, the last day of the Big Fall Finale, is also a day of all the remaining daily deals - there's just so many of them. It's the time to grab everything you might be kinda into, and just maybe it'll also score you a free game or two, or three.

As we wind down the deals and pack our bundles, there's just one more thing to say: thanks for joining us in the Big Fall Sale!

While you're here, grab a few extra games for free by doing your thing and shopping around. The more you spend, the more you'll get back, so when your total spendings exceed $5, $15, and $30, you'll unlock a new game for FREE. They're pretty good ones too:
--System Shock 2 - free for everyone who spends at least $5.
--The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena - free for everyone who spends at least $15.
--Banished - free for everyone who spends at least $30.

Pet the squirrel, grab your nuts, stock up for winter, and stay cozy out there - the Big Fall Sale is here with 11 days of discounted gaming joy, new deals every day, free games to collect, and plenty of reasons to keep coming back! The sale will last until November 15, 1:59 PM GMT.

zlep: I just tried the discounted games search, but it doesn't come up with anything that isn't already on the main page, although most of them are hidden in the tabbed sections.
Okay thanks a lot zlep, I must have misread this part of Konrad's post:

Konrad: ... but you can find more deals under other tabs and by browsing the catalog for all discounted games.

AverageBoss: A bit new to GoG and just spent $40 less than 10 hours before the sale. Is there any sort of process I can do to get the freebie games for those I bought?
You could try contacting Support about this, but I can't guarantee anything obviously.

Maxvorstadt: Oh, I just realized that you can click on the categories over the games.
avatar
zlep: Yeah, it took me a while to realize that too. A shame they did it that way, because it's really easy for people to miss out on lots of good specials that don't show up until you go looking for tabs on the main page.
There are over 300 games discounted right now. How else should they have done it? People are complaining about a cluttered sale page now -- imagine if there were no tabs, and they just dumped everything on sale in a pile. The complaining would be visible from high orbit.

Lemon_Curry: You can miss out on a lot of offers that aren't shown in the tabs section if you don't do a search for discounted games.

Currently, when you filter the games catalog by 'discounted', it shows 435 games; when I counted the items in the sale section of the front page earlier today (hey, I was curious, and had some free time...), there were a total of 428 (ignoring everything in the 'Highlights' and 'Staff Picks' sections, since, AFAICT, they're duplicates of games also displayed elsewhere). There may not be many discounted items that aren't promoted on the main page (and two of those 435 are the Hard West pre-order items), but there are a few.

Anything you haven't downloaded yet (and I mean not one bit -- not even so much as the first part of an eight-part installer, or even the manual!) can be returned, no questions asked. You can then, if you like, re-buy anything you'd just had refunded -- which might be worthwhile if you paid full price for it before -- and it will count toward your total for earning the freebies.

Of course, if all you want are the free games you would otherwise have earned, there are gonna be plenty of spare codes floating around these forums (and probably elsewhere), and the lower the spending threshold for a reward, the more people are gonna be unlocking it. Therefore, there will be a number of Banished codes around, plenty of copies of the Riddick bundle, and heaps and heaps of System Shock 2 codes. Here is the main clearinghouse thread for this sale's extra "freebie" codes, but you'll probably see other topics and random code drops, too.

Welcome to GOG.

HunchBluntley:
Thanks oh mighty møøse. It feels good to be wrong about not being right (even if there are only a few extra titles).
Picked up Blackguards 2 for 5 bucks -- seems like a steal, if it's even remotely on the same level as the first game.

Own most of the other games I'm interested in already, including the 3 potentially free games. :P

By the way, the guys responsible for the promo graphics did a great job once again!
HELP!! I really want a game that's on sale right now, but I won't be able to buy it until a few days later.

Do the games on sale change daily or do they stay on sale until the Fall sale ends??? I'd be very said if it changes daily :(
Blackguards 1 & 2 are on sale as part of the Daedalic Bundle, but the Untold Legends expansion isn't?... Is this some inadvertent oversight?...

They change daily, but:
1) Deals often repeat at some point as there are not enough games to fill 11 days
2) GOG always does a recap at the end of the sale, usually of almost everything that had been on sale
3) Usually they is also a "recap" at some point in the middle of the sale (Monday or Tuesday, I would guess)
4) And some games just stay on sale throughout

So chances are very good that you will have another opportunity of buying whatever it is. Just come visit every 12-24 hours to make sure.

Thanks much! I guess I shouldn't worry then. The game's Toonstruck in case you're interested :3 I don't think it's one of the daily deals today.

Actually, it's part of the Interplay bundle. Bundles are practically guaranteed to repeat on the last day of the sale and once more around the middle of the sale.

I can think of several ways to do it. Probably the easiest and most effective would be to put 4 little boxes (the size of the smallest game box) in a row between the Highlights and Staff Picks sections. Label each with something like "Daily Deals - Roleplay", "Daily Deals - Adventure", etc. Adding them as a single graphically displayed row would ensure they weren't overlooked without detracting attention from the featured games in those other two sections.

And yes, obviously "dump it all in a huge pile" is a worse solution, but there are plenty of options for displaying things on webpages these days. There's nothing intrinsically wrong with the tabs option, but in this case they don't look particularly like tabs. Both the font and the line below the words look exactly like the non-tab titles above all the other sections, so they're very easy to overlook as your eyes flow from picture box to picture box.

This didn't sound right to me. Sure I could be wrong, but 7 games seemed like too many for me to miss, so I double-checked your numbers. There are 434 games on sale promoted on the main page, including the Hard West games. As you mention, you only counted the Fall Sale games, which don't include all the current promos.

That left 1 extra entry on the discounted search page, and since I knew it was there this time, it stood out. It's the Stasis Deluxe Edition upgrade. The main page advertises both the standard and deluxe editions, but not the upgrade between the two, so technically there's an item actually in the Fall Sale that didn't get advertised on the main page. Presumably GOG doesn't consider upgrade options to be sexy items...
Is there a discussion thread that keeps track of the list of games on sales?

CarrionCrow: Every time I look at the front page, I think that a nightmare creature is going to jump out of the hole in that tree trunk...
The whole autumnal landscape looks creepy to me, what with all those too-regularly planted trees standing out in the near-desert environment.

And the sale news told me to pat the squirrel, which I did. But he just continued to bounce his nut while staring at me strangely. It made me feel slightly dirty. Like playing Goat Petting Simulator.

I may have watched too many let's plays of The Park, Five Nights At Freddy's and P.T. over the Halloween period...
How long is this sale going to last?
