I'm in for Eschalon: Book III . Thank you .
in for:
Avernum: Escape From The Pit

I have pretty much everything except the new remakes(wanted title). I think in times of just "what do I play.....sure why not". These games are pretty good at keeping me occupied without to much thought, yet not stumping me with puzzles and crap that would hinder my progress as I see fit. So while not as good as, say Ultima series. Unlike ultima games, these usually don't get me frustrated as to what to do next when I just want to enjoy something lite. =D

Cheers!
Not in. Not sure if it's my kind of games... yet :-)

Thank you and +1.

I can never bring myself to decide on my own who to gift a game to in my giveaways, so the following Goglodytes can thank Random.org for choosing them as the winners...

cartharsis (chose Avadon 2: The Corruption)
b_smith_81 (chose Avadon: The Black Fortress)
Sorapak (chose Avernum: The Complete Saga)
pimpmonkey2382.313 (chose Geneforge Saga)

...PMs have been sent, so congratulations to all the winners! And remember, even if you didn't win, there's still over 24 hours left in the sale! You can still pick up any of these great games/series at an awesome discount!

Congrats to all the winners!

So, for someone getting into the iso-RPGs what do you recommend of the 3 (Avernum, Avadon, and Eschalon), ChaunceyK?

I haven't played the Eschalon series yet (I won them in a giveaway a couple months back), but if you're just starting I'd say go for Avadon. It has nice graphics, reasonably simple game mechanics, and it's near impossible to completely bork your character. I think it's the best intro to Spiderweb games.

The earlier games are good too, great storytelling. Avernum has very retro graphics, but the gameplay is solid. Geneforge (my personal favorite for the uniqueness of its world) is the most difficult as far as character-building, but thankfully there are plenty of tips available to give you a better idea on how to build a successful character.

I really enjoyed Geneforge, too.

There are typically multiple paths (in many senses of the word) to follow and if I explore the alternate routes (as well as my chosen route) I find that I generate plenty of skill points to spare. That is, if you feel yourself trapped or lacking in strength, you can typically step back and explore for a while. In this sense character building is somewhat forgiving.

I typically play as a lone Guardian-- no summons. It's tricky, but excellent fun.
Congratulations to the winners, and thanks once again for a very generous giveaway. :)

I love being a summoner (which I did in my first Arcanum play-through, too), so I went the Shaper route in GF1 and GF2. But I'm heavily considering Guardian for when I tackle GF3.
