HunchBluntley: The day is no shorter for you than for anyone else.
avatar
Kleetus: Technically that's not true, Winter and Summer days differ due to the Earth's tilt and orbit.
The day is no longer or shorter because of DST. Axial tilt and distance from the Sun still have their effect on the length of the day regardless. (Perhaps someone should try to eliminate these things through legislation?)

OneFiercePuppy: While I am not astronomical
Ha ha, you're not astronomical.

Breja: If you cared to read my entire incredibly long post you might possibly figure out that I meant it gets dark at an earlier hour. Which effectively means that for me the day is an hour shorter.
avatar
HunchBluntley: It also gets light at an earlier hour in the morning. The day is no shorter for you than for anyone else. (And f you want that "lost" hour of daylight back, just get up an hour earlier!)
Jesus H. Christ, it's like this place is trying to drive me mad of late.

I know technically the day isn't shorter because of it. But for me it is, because I don't get up at fucking dawn :D And I'm not about to start. The days grow shorter anyway, and now it's dark before five o'fuckin'clock and it's driving me crazy. Get it? :D

So basically it's your fault?

Well, then, just get up earlier, you silly-nilly!

This is why I want Trump to win, he can do this and make 'Murica great again.
I get an extra hour of sleep.

I like daylight savings time.
I hate it. It always feels artificial to align with the "new time", no matter the change.

Do we have a wishlist entry for getting rid of it? ;-P

Shit, I fucked it up.

I meant to add it as a feature and put it in as a game.

Now no one is going to take it seriously.

HereForTheBeer: Yes, mixed with Great Pyrenees. Weird combo. 85 pound herding / watch dog. But super-sweet. Just wish she'd sleep in, hence the dislike for DST.

Crackpot.756: If "not sleeping in" is your only issue, you're probably a good dog owner. Does she show any herding dog behaviour? I used to have a rat while living with a Border Collie. Dog used to sit in front of the cage (for hours, if we'd let her) and just stare at him, making sure he didn't go anywhere.
We're okay parents. I mean, spoil the living shit out of them but other than that we don't do anything special. She's just a pretty darn good dog with a few annoying breed-based habits. But cute and sweet as anything so it's hard to get upset with the barking and such.

And yeah, she sort of herds a bit. Her big herding thing is that during playtime she tends to always go for the back legs. On my way to a customer I happened upon a guy walking his dog, and it looked like a twin of Sadie. Stopped to talk to him and meet the dog, and sure enough, same mix of breeds. After chatting a bit it turns out they share a bunch of habits. Dog breeding is an interesting thing, how the traits mix as the breeds mix, and how consistent they are.

Sniskerbobberton: Got a Staffordshire Bull Terrier cross that makes silly noises when she wants/needs something, she's horrendous when she knows she's about to go out for a walk or when she knows it's tea time! Paws and hollers.
We're thinking Annie <--- is a Staffy mix, too. What a great dog. Ours makes goofy noises, too, usually for treats and attention. Bobblehead dog, smiles a lot, and a complete pushover. And paws. Haha - that goofy dancing around with the head shaking.

Pretty sure he'll get the Messicans to pay for it, too.

HereForTheBeer: Just wish she'd sleep in
Other way around for me, Jake sleeps on my bed but I get up first at 5AM.

He sleeps in till about 7, then he gets up to say hello and do a piss then back to bed till breakfast at 9.

This freaking dog has a bladder of steel, I thought having him sleep with me would disturb me when he wanted to pee, but he goes for 10 hours without pissing.

I'm the one who has to get up several times during the night, he never gets up to pee.

He always gets up with a morning erection though, I hope it's not from sleeping next to me.

Our mutts might be cousins. Annie is the same way, though she no longer sleeps on the bed with us. Even more so in wintertime - it gets cold and she does NOT want to go outside. Sadie on the other hand would spend the whole day in the snow.
"I HATE DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME"

Good thing daylight savings time is over and standard time is in effect, then.

The irony is that "standard" time is in effect for less than half the year. :P

I'm thinking of kicking Jake out soon, he's great but his specialty is waiting until I get up to pee then hogging the bed.

And when I move him he moans and grunts.

But the real reason is that he makes a mess on the bed as he always has a genital and arse cleaning session just before he sleeps.

I'm dreading making him sleep in his own bed, I know he'll wait until I'm asleep and sneak back.
