This saddens me.

Many good hours have been spent reading Pratchett's books, many laughs and deep thoughts they've stirred from me. Rest well.

I like how his daughter has a cool sense of humour about it.

I mean, it's only fitting. The man gave us some of the best laughs available. While it is always an unhappy event, I don't think he's want us crying over him.

I wonder if he saw DEATH when HE came for him? And if so, did he manage to get a chuckle out of DEATH before he passed on? I'd like to believe he did.

And now, I may finally get to read all your books before *I* die. I'm not a slow reader, but it seemed like he was writing three for each one I finished.

R.I.P. Sir Terry... Thank You. Thank you very much for everything.
First Leonard Nimoy, now Terry Pratchett. Oh well, I suppose they will never truly die now.

kalirion: Guards Guards is the first book of the "Night Watch" sub-series, and is very good.
Oh the Night Watch series is absolutely my favourite. I generally like Ankh-Morpork and Vimes, so.... Win!
A great writer and a great fantasy world !
My thoughts go to his daughter, Rhianna Pratchett and his cat.
There goes yet another one that made my life more pleasant.
66 is too early, man...

Gede: I too have never read anything written by him. I would like to.
Would someone care to suggest where to start?

kalirion: The first Discworld book is The Color of Magic, but it's not one of the best, and not indicative of the quality that the series develops. I loved it personally, but many do not recommend it as a good way to get into the series.

Small Gods is a good stand-alone novel in the Discworld universe, with only a few cameos from established characters from earlier books.

Guards Guards is the first book of the "Night Watch" sub-series, and is very good.

Then there's always the non-Discworld Good Omens which he co-authored with Neil Gaiman.
My favourite book about the discworld is "Thief of Time",
but my favourite book from him in general is "Dark Side of the Sun".

I finished reading Raising Steam yesterday. It's very good. But when I finished reading it I couldn't help but think that it felt like a goodbye.
R.I.P. Mr Pratchett and thanks for all the laughs.

It's a sad day when one of my favourite writers dies, and yet I am pretty sure the last thing he would want is to have a lot of people sad because of him.
So it's time to reread all his books and feel happier I suppose.
Damn, this is sad. :-(

Thank you for the countless hours of fun, Terry. RIP.

I hope I manage to read all of your books before DEATH COMES FOR ME.
Goodbye Pterry. You brought so much laughter and food for thought into so many people's lives. Through your books you will live on in the hearts and minds of countless multitudes.

Oh, and thanks for thinking up Sam Vimes. He is, by quite a large margin, my favourite literary character ever.

Yep. Sad as the news is, I feel like I'm gaining ground on Pratchett because he used to write the books faster than I can read them so now I might have a chance to beat my Discworld backlog.

And I haven't even finished the games yet, still fiddling around with the first one.

And we still haven't got the Discworld games on GoG.
They are with Eric Idle and are awesome.

Here's something fitting from the second game:

Necessary for the first one at least: http://www.uhs-hints.com/uhsweb/discwrld.php
I am heart broken over this news, Terry Pratchett is one of my favourite writers of all time. The Colour of Magic, The Light Fantastic, Reaper Man, Soul Music, Morte, Going Postal, The Hogfather, Guards!! Guards!!, and Good Omens were among my favourites of his works. They will sit more proudly on my bookshelf as a testament to his quality writing and amazing works. I am happy I got to stream Discworld 2: Missing Presumed...!? I recommend anyone who gets the opportunity to play that wonderful game, OR Discworld Noir.

In honour of his passing, I would like to post this link because I think it's something he would appreciate, I do not mean to offend so I do apologize ahead of time if it does to anyone:
