Serren: I have also seen the control layouts and know that Fallen Order uses dedicated buttons to automatically block and automatically dodge, which definitely means gameplay is simplified in relation to the JK games. It doesn't seem that you actually (manually) dodge, block/parry, counter, put together your own freeform combos or change stances on-the-fly as you do in JO and JA, among other shortcomings I noticed in comparison.
FYI, I've played Dark Souls/style games and have never been impressed or had fun. They are games of rote memorisation of enemy telegraphs and patterns, not skill or improvisation. They feel like modern day incarnations of Dragon's Lair.
Multiplayer of JO/JA consists of timing strong style strikes while jumping. Not a most complicated thing to do, but by gods, one which requires a lot of skill. But it's hardly different from skills you require for Dark Souls (and it's multiplayer component). FYI, I've played Dark Souls/style games and have never been impressed or had fun. They are games of rote memorisation of enemy telegraphs and patterns, not skill or improvisation. They feel like modern day incarnations of Dragon's Lair.
If you didn't found skill requirement or improvisation, that doesn't mean it's not; though I will agree it's not in the same wane as Terraria for example.
