JDelekto: Well, I guess that explains the meaning behind the Charlie Brown cartoons where "commercialism" seems to ruin everything. To be honest, I wouldn't even consider myself a Christian only because I've not done anything religiously in quite some time other than shower, shave, get dressed and go to work.
However, there are still the things my parents did for me when I was a child which helped ease the pain of "growing up" and allowed me to enjoy those younger years. After graduating from college though, I was another piece of meat for the grinder. :)
zeogold: Yup, I believe that Schulz was a Christian and he was rather appalled at how the meaning of Christmas had been lost to commercialism and sort of used Linus as his mouthpiece. I always find it kind of interesting how he was concerned about this back in the 60s and wonder what he'd think of things today.
Well, commercialism or no, it's always nice to be able to enjoy these things. Personal meaning and happy memories can still be gotten out of them regardless.
sunshinecorp: Amen to that.
zeogold: It makes a difference when you're spending money on ingredients and actually trying to compete rather than spending your money on advertising and trying to take over.
zeogold: How do you even pronounce that?
