Eh, sometimes i feel the same, not because of the community but the company behind the forum, their apathy really bothers me and what pisses me off is when somebody promises a solution just to shut me up and ends up doing nothing, i hope that this isn't the case with the last promise they made...
I gave you no fish...
Ohman, it is sad to see you withdraw, but I understand, certainly. Thanks for making this post. I'm sorry we had beef like we did upon my early existence in the forums, I'm glad we moved past it and have been able to have positive and productive exchanges. You are one of the main people who got me participating in the forums regularly; with your thought-out and elaborate responses that actually promoted conversation and the exchanging of ideas rather than ego-boosting, chest-pumping, attention-grabbing, "no I'm right, you're wrong" childishness that I'm used to in forums on the internet (which is probably why I don't always respond the best, I get used to operating on those levels as well rather than staying above it, GD internet.) Your posts are always appreciated and I look forward to spotting you around the game-specific forums, and hopefully a thread in the general here and there as it strikes you. Don't feel the need to stay away just because you said you are. I'll be glad to have you back around at any point, as of course many others will too. The best recommendation I can give has been given, simply try and ignore and not engage the inanity and stupidity that are a lot of the posts and people (though, had you done that, I wonder if you would have ever responded to my post about the dumbing-down of the modern gamer and got me engaged in the forums. I would like to think you would have because I wasn't completely horrible with the posting, but, I wonder.) If we just ignore them and keep on plugging away, we might actually save this forum from going entirely down the shitter. As said, the withdrawal of you just makes that harder. I'm not trying to convince you to stay, just talking about it all. It is a strong move to make the post you did and do what you're doing. May your new free time be used well! (start a garden!?)
Good luck with the new life. It is always a good idea to stop doing something one isn't enjoying anymore, and isn't forced to do.

In the past, I've also left several forums/sites before for good when I didn't enjoy them anymore, albeit I don't recall writing farewell messages much though. One can't change a forum to his liking alone, so sometimes leaving or at least taking a break is the only option.

Bigs: Agree 100%and is why I don't post as often.
Good luck with everything.
^ This!
No no no no no, don't leave! With whom am i now supposed to argue over Steam and how evil it truly is, among other things? Please reconsider! Don't leave GOG tm!

Umm, can i have a catfish? And how can i convince you to not abandon ship?

I know how you feel. This is actually the only online community that i post in on a regular basis but that regular basis has become less and less frequent. I used to participate in multiple topics every day but the price of gog's popularity weighs heavily on me too so now I can take days before I participate. I do lurk though hoping to find an interesting topic...

Maybe when galaxy comes out of beta I will install it and maybe we will meet there again. Good luck!

I cannot blame you, and I respect your choice.
You have been here for quite a while and when compared to you it seems like I have just joined, yet I largely share your feelings.
Maybe it is just my perception or I am simply not very lucky when viewing threads, but I noticed that the amount of bitterness, aggressiveness, disrespect, propaganda-like-fanboyism (on many sides) and general intolerance to others' opinions -especially if they are strong ones, no matter the topic involved, spanning from serious social matters to criticizing the core design of famous games- has dramatically increased in the last months.
Now, I see lots of rude, arrogant and not elaborated (it seems like explaining the motives behind an opinion is out of fashion) replies; while it is true that the GOG community is still a paradise when compared to the average, this is starting to overweight the positivity I get when coming here – in fact, lately I have been posting nearly nothing, and I don't think the situation will change.
Now, I mostly stick to the "private" areas of the site, basically only chatting with the people I had the luck to meet before GOG became... well... too famous to maintain peaceful forums. :P

Just like you, I have a problem in digesting some kind of comments, and since I usually feel the need to point that out as soon as I can and never step back when I feel insulted (directly or indirectly) or I see my opinion misinterpreted, I think it would be better to just skip the conversation altogether and sparing the bother both to myself and to the other readers.
I think many others felt the same way, noticing how many great users have already abandoned the boards and how many others have become a lot more quiet recently. It's a real pity that you are going, too, as even if sometimes -let's be honest- your attitude got a bit on my nerves, your posts are usually clever, interesting and reasonable.

Anyway... my best wishes for everything! :)
So long & farewell.. have some Krusovice tonight and chill out man! Cheers! ;-)

Well, you could have asked that two ways, "am I a gangster" or "am I gansta", both have different connotations and different meanings which depend on your particular stature in the community which they are written or spoken.

In all honesty, I think you are what you want to be.

Same as the %0 interest I got from Cookie Monster when I ran out of cookies.
