h-hhh--hhh-ow c-c-can I w-work now???!!!
Impressive, most impressive. Bought, of course.

That makes it one of the three big games I wanted. Let's see if GOG can get Blood Omen and The Neverhood next. They sound a lot more difficult, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed here!

phaolo: I feel the same.
If you're an old gamer, a weird (but not bad) UI won't a big problem.
Same here.

I don't particularly like the sentiment of making every single game play exactly the same.

JudasIscariot: Perhaps the pacing was, more or less, determined by the interface limitations of the time?
avatar
thejimz: I'd agree with that, actually! But the version with the clunky interface is the one that Looking Glass played, balanced and released. They had to work around the interface and adjust the game accordingly (obstacles, spacing of monsters, combat, look-behind-you moments, etc.), which is why I'm skeptical of updated versions--once you start changing the UI, you change what the whole game was originally balanced/paced to accommodate. IMO you end up with a totally different experience.

That said, I'm a purist when it comes to old games, and I'd rather play an old clunker than a slick remake any day. (The version of Wasteland on GOG has been updated too much for me, LOL.) If there's anyone who can only enjoy SS1 in the Enhanced Edition, more power to them as long as they buy it and support GOG!! :) Thank you guys for getting this classic.
Well, you still move at a sort of plodding pace until you get the speed boost implant. I played through the entire first level ship level (it's still huge!) looking for all the hidden nooks and crannies and I don't know, still feels like SS1 to me.

In any case, we have the original version for those who wish to play it as such so all's well that ends well in my book :)

This is a quality about GOG I really love, lots of games here have their various versions of it on offer. Windows versions, DOS versions, Enhanced versions. Now you guys just need to figure out how to get Amiga versions of certain games.

Great game, of course I bought the enhanced CD edition for less two decades or so ago.
Well, well... looks I might actually get further than the first 15 minutes on this :)
By the way, everyone should watch this:

HiPhish: Mac- and Linux version when?
Probably never. The link that Judas posted makes it sound like it is based on System Shock Loader, which means that it will only work on Windows. :-(
Thanks for the realease! Instantbuy!

One of my all time favorite games :)
