UPDATE: The first No Man's Sky update is now out!
It's a much-awaited bundle of fixes, as well as compatibility and performance improvements and you can grab it now via GOG Galaxy auto-updates, or with the newest offline installers.

No Man's Sky a massive science-fiction game set in an infinite procedurally generated galaxy, is available now, DRM-free on GOG.com. Note that the game takes place in one persistent PC universe, shared across GOG and Steam.

In an intergalactic society, only the few set off towards the stars — explorers, those unafraid, those with nothing to lose. They set off never to come back as far as any of us are concerned. And thus, we still look up at an infinite sky, now within our reach, yet still untouched — a no man's land, a No Man's Sky.

No Man's Sky promises discovery of an infinite, uncharted universe. Its billions of stars, planets, unknown living creatures, breathtaking sights and lonely wastelands — all seamlessly connected — gradually getting catalogued by explorers drawn to the distant mysteries of the horizon, eager to leave a permanent mark in their wake.

The frontier is merciless and dangerous. Exposed to a universe of extremities in your fragile suit and ship, you'll need resources and upgrades to get far — as well as the means to stand your ground in a fight. Whether you journey to the center of it all or seek out the farthest reaches of existence, the trip will not be simple or dull. You'll catalogue things unseen, discover alien artifacts and reveal the greatest mysteries of the universe. If you survive.

Calibrate your suits for extreme insomnia, reach out and touch the No Man's Sky, DRM-free on GOG.com!

Regals: Or just a drug addict nobody making game reviews with IQ below 10 to satisify the morons with computers that can not handle the game?
So NMS is okay and all of those negative reviews (gog, steam and other websites) are based on "my pc can't run it...!"?
avatar
summitus: Do you have to have GOG galaxy to buy this , can it be bought and updated without galaxy ?
avatar
TheDude68au: I'm only new to GOG so can't be 100% sure but I think you can.

In saying that if you have a AMD CPU you probably won't be able to run it at the moment. I would wait for a week or so just to be sure it is patched to a working version for AMD CPU's.

Also without GOG Galaxy you will be playing offline which means you will not see other peoples discoveries (N.B Online you won't see other players avatars either only their discoveries.)

Hope this helps
I have an AMD FX-8120. Game runs fine on this CPU because it supports SSE4.1---it's not a blanket issue with all AMD CPUs. It's more "check your CPU for SSE4.1 compatibility". (Not saying Hello Games shouldn't have been WAY more clear with their minimum specs.)

Leave it be. It s a poor soul, probably scraping some credits to conduct a miserable life, by infesting forums.
It s a damned soul.

Antoni_Fox: I found a great non-biased video review of No Man's Sky....

Part 1: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HefCxo9UVtA

Part 2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0nQ1bt9eflU
Absolutely brilliant.....I love this review......to the point. LOL very entertaining. I love how he talks about mining and £40 £40 £40 lol The "cut and paste" thing was scary too. As in "oh no" scary. As for part 2, can't stop laughing...... LOL

Now...............I'm one of those people who meet the spec but cannot run it so I am waiting for a patch (crash to desktop after title screen) but after looking at all of this.......I don't know I even want to at the moment.

Sure I'll give it a go if I can get it running but it looks like until they put alot more into the game......which is coming according to the news section on the NMS website......it might just not be what I want to play for too long at the moment.

:(

Antoni_Fox: I thought that multiplayer had been cancelled in No Man's Sky?

The whole thing is single player online OR offline afaik.
avatar
GR00T: I didn't say anything about multiplayer...? O_o
Yes, sorry, i'm not disputing you or anything.

I'm just surprised that people are playing the game on Galaxy when it has no proper multiplayer... unless it has achievements or something.

Not sure about cheevos, but - from what I understand - if you go online with it, you can upload and DL planetary data from the Atlas (you can access other players' discoveries there as well, getting coordinates to those planets).

Cheers mate!

Roxolani: another overhyped title?
Yes, overhyped and overpriced.

It has nice graphics, but besides that it doesn't have a lot of content or gameplay.
You can't do much besides exploring, naming things and endless resource grinding.

It has NO Multiplayer and you can't build anything like e.g. in Minecraft & Co..

But no worries they confirmed to add missing content and charge you for it.

mey I just watched the review above... and same could said about any game.

Skyrim a garbage game where you save the day like every other zelda remake.
You get a sword and you wack things get quest turn in and wack more... wack again

WACK WACK WACK WACK
it has nothing to do it except grind grind grind grind
WACK WACK WACK

IT DOES NOT EVEN HAVE MULTIPLAYER LIKE WORLD OF WARCRAFT so unlike WoW it has the same grinding quests that you WACK stuff with sword

The performance is horriable on my 20 year old computer and graphics even worse.
game rating 2/10

The only reason you enjoy the review is cause it agrees with you child.

Serious question, what is it with you and this game? :P

I haven't played it, so I really can't give an opinion, but you seem just totally fucking enraged by anyone that doesn't like it, which puzzles me.

Every game I adore has countless numbers that think it is a miserable piece of shit, but you don't see me freaking out when someone expresses that. And vica versa. I hate SS2 and a lot of people think I am a first class dickhead for thinking that, but they don't attack me in here and belittle me with insults and names.

You said yourself, "same could be said about any game". So why are you so passionate about this one? You do know even the best games ever have their detractors.

It isn't so much if a person has played it and disliked it.
It is majority of them haven't even actually played it.

The real question is why are people trolling this game and not have even played it.
While garbage games like team fortress do not have anyone trolling it.

I am not so much as defending game... but gog which is getting trolled by bunch of "internet critics" fan bois.

Game technically doesn't need defense ... it is a raging success.

Are you trying to suggest that you care about anyone or anything other than yourself? Really? lol

Watch a few hours of game footage and you'll see straightaway that the review is spot on.
