Time is (of) the essence

Braid, the subversive, time-manipulating platformer with the evocative story, is now available for Windows, Mac, and Linux, DRM-free on GOG.com, with a 50% launch discount.

It's been played, studied, and thoroughly discussed. Some praise its brilliant time-bending mechanics that make each level a complex gauntlet of puzzle-platforming delight. Others debate the deliberately obscure story that deals with personal redemption, broader philosophical themes, and meta-commentary on gaming's conventions.

Everybody recognises it as a masterfully crafted experience that put Jonathan Blow in the spotlight and helped usher the golden age of indies. If you haven't tried it, now is your chance to turn back time and give it a spin. Your future self will surely thank you for it.

Catch up on a timeless classic and untangle the brilliant challenges of Braid, DRM-free on GOG.com. The 50% discount will last until May 18, 12:59 PM UTC.

In the press:
"Diabolically clever and incredibly rewarding" - Giant Bomb
"Beautiful, entertaining, and inspiring" - Eurogamer
"An instant indie classic" - Total PC Gaming
I am not saying this game is overpriced and over hyped (yeah, but this game sure is. :P) but I am saying that looking at how old this game is and the number of times this game has been discounted or bundled the launch discount on gog should be 75% minimum.
And for maximum this game should be distributed for free like Mount and Blade was when series was launched here.

Btw where is that Blow guy?
Is he coming here or not?

CARRiON.FLOWERS: Is it really that uncommon for people to finish games they aren't enjoying?
You are not alone. I normally finish every game that I start. There are just very few exceptions when a game is really too hard for me or if there are game breaking bugs. But luckily I know my taste very well and so I still enjoy most of the games that I play.

Thing is whenever I start playing a game I start playing in my dreams too.
I can't stop replaying it until I finish it.
May be it's a mental disease of somekind!!!

IAmSinistar: It's probably also a sop to make the asking price of The Witness more palatable. Suddenly our money matters now. ~_~
Yeah really.

With how The Witness has had underperformed on Steam coupled with Blow's previously arrogant as hell attitude towards GOG... it doesn't feel like he's here for honest reasons, only "Welp, I guess I'd better try to sponge some extra money off these people now."

Same here , when its too buggy i leave it and won't play it again.
When its to hard but the game is good i google for cheats or trainers.
Some games are very old but i play them at least once a day:

Command & Conquer , Red Alert 2 + Yuris Revenge, the first Red Alert seems to run on win7 64 bits but the graphics are messed up, there are weird blue lines across some graphics,
making it harder to play, i googled for patches but none of these worked for me to fix the graphics issue.

Been about time. Glad to see this excellent game added to GOG catalog.
I like this.

Barry_Woodward: The point is, it's not a conspiracy to screw GOG customers, it's the MSRP for the game on PC, Mac and Linux. It's the same base price on the big three: GOG, Steam and Humble. The places where it's cheaper are probably an oversight. It's fine if people don't want to pay the full asking price or even half that, but there's no need to demonize anyone.
Sure, and I certainly appreciate the positive attitude of the GOG community in general (sometimes I just flick through some reviews to see some people say nice things about games), but at the same time sometimes I get the impression some developers threat GOG as a bargain bin, where they move games that have otherwise reached the end of their saleability on other platforms, while charging for their "generosity" by demanding a premium from GOG users who finally can get the game on their platform of choice.

GOG IS a digital bargain bin. Old unsupported cheap games often sale bundled. Once publishers realize this we're good.

That GOG sell new games too doesn't change this. GOG is a digital shop with a very large bargain bin section.
OK, given the positive reviews on other sites I've decided to get this one. Especially since I like the genre. Last platformer puzzle game I tried though, Gateways, was a bit disappointing. Hope this one's better.

No, is not that uncommon for people to finish games they aren't enjoying, but I think zeroxxx asked because you said you hated it (which is quite different to not enjoying something).
Fantastic game, great music. Too expensive.

To be fair, that's probably how most big-name devs or pubs view GOG.

so basically, you want to reinforce the idea that gOg is a bargain bin, by making the landscaper here?

CharlesGrey: Ah, that's too bad -- you use Linux or something? I have yet to mess around with Linux myself, but couldn't you run the game in WINE or whatever it's called?
The thing about WINE is that you want to know whether the game will actually work under WINE - not all of them do. But this is a relatively unknown title, so there's very little information available about it. It isn't in the WINE AppDB, there's nothing on their Steam forum except an unanswered thread asking about a Linux port (and someone implying they promised one during their Greenlight campaign), and the GOG subforum contains precisely one topic, asking about Win XP.
