UPDATE: With the conclusion of PAX, the 20% pre-order discount for the game has been changed to 10%. D-Pad Studio also announced that Owlboy is scheduled to take off on November 1st!

Owlboy, a wonderful flight through old-school aesthetics and unique platforming mechanics, is now available for pre-order, DRM-free on GOG.com, with a 10% pre-order discount.

Otus doesn't say much but his spirit and determination speak volumes. Just as the beloved owlboy is coming of age, a surprise attack by sky pirates forces him to ride the winds of change and begin his turbulent journey across the aching land. To counter-balance his non-violent nature, Otus will enlist several of his less cordial friends, who are able to gun down the monsters that infest his beloved home. Apart from their unique abilities, the owlboy will share with them stories and companionship, as they flap together towards an open-world full of cavernous dungeons, dangerous ruins, and challenging bosses. Remember: carrying is caring!

Pre-order Owlboy and take to the pixel-perfect skies, DRM-free on GOG.com.
Pre-order bonus: the dreamy OST is free for the early owls, available to download right away both on mp3 and FLAC formats!
The 10% discount will last until the game's release on November 1st.

Vainamoinen: Apologies for the double post, but I've done some digging concerning the soundtrack because I just couldn't believe that 25 minutes is basically it.

Turns out that doesn't seem to be the case!

See here:
http://jonathangeer.com/?p=562

This soundtrack sampler is the one available as mp3s for GOG customers:
http://jonathangeer.bandcamp.com/album/owlboy-soundtrack-sampler

Question to GOG: Will the GOG soundtrack be updated in full when the game hits?

Because that would be the real bargain, with the full OST selling at 8$ on bandcamp... :)
GOG announcment refers to both mp3 and FLAC.
It doesn't mention the soundtrack being incomplete.

WOW, so much misleading information in just one news. No wonder there's little trust in purchasing new games on GOG.

The sampler is a great extra in principle, currently valued at 3$, and you actually CAN'T listen to the entire sampler free of charge on bandcamp, only to three select tracks. So pre-ordering still holds value – but should of course be advertised for what it is. :|

Should GOG confirm that we'll get the rest as well, I may place the order immediately. If that's not the case, I'll get the bandcamp release on day one and may buy on day one as well. Chances are the discount lasts for a few hours still on release day. :)

Owlboy is swiftly becoming the game I look forward to most these next two if not three months. I'm thankful GOG made me aware of it! But woe is with these communication mishaps.

In my case Owlboy was a game I was really looking forward to and it would've been an instabuy as I've waited for it for years. But too much communication issue to trust GOG with my money after all the past mistake.

musteriuz: Thanks for the responses PaterAlf and Omega64. I see it is only the upcoming games still in development. No "old" games on their way are displayed there.

JudasIscariot: We don't display older games in the Upcoming section due to the fact that we don't always have a clear picture as to when they will be released. This is due to either technical or legal issues.
Thanks for the explanation Judas, although I can't understand the reasoning. Upcoming just means on its way, its not date related, so why would the uncertainty of when a game would arrive preclude gog from showing it as on the way?

Because the longer an older game would stay in the upcoming section, the more complaints we'll get about it being in the Upcoming queue.

Seen this happen back in the day with SpaceChem.

Hi everyone! I just got contacted by GOG about the soundtrack confusion! While the soundtrack that you get when pre-ordering the game is the actual sample soundtrack, which includes 16 tracks from the game. It was stated on the GOG page as the entire soundtrack for the game. We're so sorry that this was not communicated! Right now, we're out traveling after PAX, but the second we've landed, we're gonna discuss how to resolve this issue together with GOG.

We love you guys for checking out our game, and we want to make sure to handle this situation in the best possible way!

I get you. Thanks for taking the time to reply to my questions. Have a good one.

Fairfox: *sigh*; honestly not just saying this to be difficult, but I totally pre-ordered because I thought I was getting teh full soundtrack.
I totally get this, it would have been exactly why I would have pre-ordered as well... but if D-Pad just handed it over, that would indeed cut into Jonathan's soundtrack sales. It's... a bit unfair for the other side as well.

Jon's made an interesting proposition on bandcamp though. He intends to bolster the sampler there with a few additional tracks once the game is released (with every single track plus cutting room floor edits reserved for the full OST).

Maybe the same compromise deal is the one that GOGlins could live with... I hope.

Khmm .

What's next ? A Humble Bundle sale on the release day ?
If anyone's still interested and wants to try a very early version of the game, you can try the demo from here.
