An uplifting adventure.

UPDATE: With the conclusion of PAX, the 20% pre-order discount for the game has been changed to 10%. D-Pad Studio also announced that Owlboy is scheduled to take off on November 1st!

Owlboy, a wonderful flight through old-school aesthetics and unique platforming mechanics, is now available for pre-order, DRM-free on GOG.com, with a 10% pre-order discount.

Otus doesn't say much but his spirit and determination speak volumes. Just as the beloved owlboy is coming of age, a surprise attack by sky pirates forces him to ride the winds of change and begin his turbulent journey across the aching land. To counter-balance his non-violent nature, Otus will enlist several of his less cordial friends, who are able to gun down the monsters that infest his beloved home. Apart from their unique abilities, the owlboy will share with them stories and companionship, as they flap together towards an open-world full of cavernous dungeons, dangerous ruins, and challenging bosses. Remember: carrying is caring!

Pre-order Owlboy and take to the pixel-perfect skies, DRM-free on GOG.com.
Pre-order bonus: the dreamy OST is free for the early owls, available to download right away both on mp3 and FLAC formats!
The 10% discount will last until the game's release on November 1st.

wyrenn: Yum. Looks super nintendoy.
yes thats the resemblance i was looking for , i had a small Maple Story dejavu, but it is more nintendo like...
20 euros? ooooff.... thats very high

As for double core : we played games like this on a vanilla AMIGA 500 :D , at 4.99 guilders on a cover disk
its nice to see so many new games added but i guess the only game thats suitable for me will be avadon 3 , thats all from the 15 or 20 plus new coming games.

I do hope we get a nice boost of AGS games before the year is ove, 3 tot 5 new games would be very welcome , more is even better.

adaliabooks: I can understand complaining when devs have obviously just phoned it in with the graphics, but this looks beautiful, like the very best of SNES era games.

Breja: Now that's just self-contradictory.

Anyway, I thought that phrasing my complaining into a Monty Python letter will make it obviously not-quite serious. I mean, I'm not going to touch it, but I don't mind it being here. However, apparently for some people
:P
Good pixel art can be just as good as any other form of art.

Maybe your complaint isn't particularly serious, but it's only a matter of time before the ones that are start showing up.
It's just getting a bit old everyone complaining about pixel games and roguelikes, at least we are getting games. We could be sitting here complaining that there are no releases at all...

Barefoot_Monkey: Yes! This looks spectacular. I was actually planning on making a thread to draw attention to this game, but GOG beat me to it :)
It does look spectacular, but old gamers who played with AMIGA in the past , have seen games like this (maybe thousands less colors) but same type, same idea, seems the Nintendo also released games that look like this one, so why the Min. req. of a Duocore

Available: Fall 2016

It looks nice graphically, but pre-orders are never a good thing and especially not on GOG.
Not that I could afford it at that price anyway.

Graphics are nice , 10% agree, the flashes and motions prevent me from buying it.
The price is way to high.
I think i pre-orderd 2 or maybe 3 times, won't do it again.

You can just... not buy it.
Why are you trying to prevent others to enjoy this and other similar games here?
The more games they release, the better.

Or are you maybe on the deluded trend of thinking that these games are preventing the one you want from being released here?

Breja: I was waaaay to subtle :P
Dont worry, you made a fellow pythonian chuckle ^^

Dear Sir,
I am glad to hear that your studio audience disapproves of the last game as strongly as I. As a millenial I abhor the implication that GOG is a haven for pixelation. It is well known that we now have the problem relatively under control, and that it is Steam who now suffer the largest casualties in this area. And what do you think the Argylls ate in Aden. Arabs?

Breja: Dear Sir, I object strongly to the obvious pixelated turn this store has already taken. Why do we never see games about the good things, like Mary Bignall's wonderful jump in 1964?

As for why are these games released here. Simple. Because they are being made. And as a store they try to release deserving new indie games. That actually agree to be released drm-free. And provide a build for GOG.
In fact, if you ask me, they release a lot less games than they should.

PS: Yes. I know. I am more and more sensitive about people complaining about released new games, pixel art and/or graphics.
I agree on that part, the more games the better it should be, but one must be carefull not to go for quantity instead of quality games, i'd rather have 10 new upcoming games that are quality (in the past i bought 5 out of 10 games)
but with quantity you might release 30 games or more of which 75% will have less quality.

Steam is the best example of quantity over quality , i've been watching their weeklong sales starting this year, 90% of every weekly sale they include 80% of the exact games, sometimes they claim they have 312 games at sale.

When i check the pages i noticed that some DLC (DLC is not a game) are placed 8 times on the same page and repeated again over 3 pages, this way steam can brag about having so many games on sales.

By recycling 50% of the same game and its DLC over the 40 pages, you basically have only a few good unique games left so Steam weekly deals are mostly a joke cause its always the same games at sale, the best hiddenobject games with the best ratings are almost never on sales.

So more games is good as longs as it doesnt become like Steam, there are so many worthless games on Steam.

one more game released in 2016 with graphics like 1996.
Why don't you understand. I am addicted to these games.
Now how will I get it on first day hmm...???
Btw why Owlboy? Birdboy or Wingman would be better. :)
I love the graphic but.. hasn't this been in developement forever?
I'll need many reviews as usual before buying.

Probably not for the common folk, but it seems you were for a picky, sensitive, confrontational worned out old timer like myself.
The game looks gorgeous. I don't pre-order, but there's a good chance that I will buy it when it comes out and has good reviews.
You know what?

I know it's a pre-order and I'm quite against those but:
- Lightly knowing the dev story of it and how the guy(s) behind it want it to be the best possible experience
- knowing that I like platformers
- seeing how cute it is
- and how wonderful seems the soundtrack
- as being decently priced at 22,39 (fuck those whining about the pricing)
- oh my 20% off, at last something worth a preorder
- oh my free soundtrack that sounds apparently wonderful
- oh my no apparent regional pricing?!

Sold.
