UPDATE: With the conclusion of PAX, the 20% pre-order discount for the game has been changed to 10%. D-Pad Studio also announced that Owlboy is scheduled to take off on November 1st!

Owlboy, a wonderful flight through old-school aesthetics and unique platforming mechanics, is now available for pre-order, DRM-free on GOG.com, with a 10% pre-order discount.

Otus doesn't say much but his spirit and determination speak volumes. Just as the beloved owlboy is coming of age, a surprise attack by sky pirates forces him to ride the winds of change and begin his turbulent journey across the aching land. To counter-balance his non-violent nature, Otus will enlist several of his less cordial friends, who are able to gun down the monsters that infest his beloved home. Apart from their unique abilities, the owlboy will share with them stories and companionship, as they flap together towards an open-world full of cavernous dungeons, dangerous ruins, and challenging bosses. Remember: carrying is caring!

Pre-order Owlboy and take to the pixel-perfect skies, DRM-free on GOG.com.
Pre-order bonus: the dreamy OST is free for the early owls, available to download right away both on mp3 and FLAC formats!
The 10% discount will last until the game's release on November 1st.

Hi everyone! Thank you so much for checking out our game! We're so amazed that people are already checking out Owlboy, as it just went live on GOG!

We just announced that our game is coming out on Nov. 1st 2016, so I thought I'd just let you know!

Today we decided to put the game on a special 20% discount for our last day at PAX, allthough it's stated on the GOG page as 'until release'. It's our fault for not communication this to GOG. To remedy this, tomorrow - we're putting the game up for a 10% discount until launch, and it'll still include 16 songs from the soundtrack!

All the best

Agreed, just what I was going to say.

amrit9037: one more game released in 2016 with graphics like 1996.
My bet is you weren't born on 1996, this is million times better than what was done at the time. :P

Oh, I guessed 20% off was a bit much. Glad I've preordered it yesterday then... also I really do hope I won't regret preordering your game! :D

Cheers and good luck for the release and those two couple months before and after, and congrats! ;)
Wow! 20% off yet another pixel platformer that is clearly not more minimalistic indie shovelware! Must rush to grab my credit card!!

Oh wait, only 10% off now? Deal breaker.

edit: And I can't figure out why it's called "Owl Boy"...

20% off for a game that releases in November, maybe. But switching to just 10% while at the same time only announcing the release date, that's... very odd.

Then again, these developers are only just stepping into the den of wolves that is the video game industry. Maybe cut them some slack.

If one looks a bit above, the dev already presented excuses for what was a fail in communication. The 20% off was for Pax.

And dealbreaker? Still a preorder and like 2 bucks in difference. I concur it's a difference but I doubt it should be categorized as "deal breaker". :P

mistermumbles: Now I'm curious: is the game's music like the piece in the trailer... EDIT*
In any case, I'm very interested. I also remember reading about this years back. Good for them for sticking with it.

Random_Coffee: *obligatory "this game is made in Norway!"-brag*

mistermumbles: You must have been waiting for an opportunity to say that. =P

EDIT: Never mind. I answered my own question. Looks like it is indeed just like the trailer's music.
Great link, thanks. However, the demo given out to reviewers seems to use more of a NES/Famicom 8/16bit type of music. Now I wonder whether that was preliminary...?

Can someone who bought the game and listened to the entire soundtrack confirm the orchestral appeal...?

And tell us what the total run time is approximately?
edit: Nevermind. Misread. A few of you might want to consider that you have, as well.

It looks like it's about 22-25 minutes and by the looks of it (haven't listened to the entirety), it has a pretty uniform feel.

Awesome, discount changed.
That kind of move immediately makes me wait for a 90% discount.

How does the discount change affect you anyway? It's not that you were going to pre-order it, right? Other than that, I'm not into pre-ordering stuff too, mainly because I don't like to pay for things that don't yet exist, especially before the always necessary review reading. (Hard Reset was the only exception due to the massive discount and prior knowledge that the game was good)

Hi. I was really looking forward to Owlboy as I followed the news about its developement through the years. It looks gourgeos and I definetely want to play it.
Unfortunately it's not a good time as it was again proven that it's not safe to purchase new games on gog. There's also the concern that the game won't get updates regularly if needed. You also started with a miscommunication, something minimal but that is common here on GOG and a concern for many. It make it harder to trust in this kind of situation. So, even if I really waited of this game I'm conflicted about purchasing it, even if the discount and the soundtrack are a good plus.

I was wondering. I saw that the preorder is now out even on humble store, and still has the 20% discount (because it was added later I guess). But it's steam only. Is there a chance you could make it a drm-free + steam key instead, that would really help.
Wait, isn't advertising that a discount will be available until launch, then changing it illegal as a form of false advertisement? Or is that why the 10% discount was implemented since some discount HAS to be given now that one was offered?

No and no.
