An uplifting adventure.

UPDATE: With the conclusion of PAX, the 20% pre-order discount for the game has been changed to 10%. D-Pad Studio also announced that Owlboy is scheduled to take off on November 1st!

<span class="bold">Owlboy</span>, a wonderful flight through old-school aesthetics and unique platforming mechanics, is now available for pre-order, DRM-free on GOG.com, with a 10% pre-order discount.

Otus doesn't say much but his spirit and determination speak volumes. Just as the beloved owlboy is coming of age, a surprise attack by sky pirates forces him to ride the winds of change and begin his turbulent journey across the aching land. To counter-balance his non-violent nature, Otus will enlist several of his less cordial friends, who are able to gun down the monsters that infest his beloved home. Apart from their unique abilities, the owlboy will share with them stories and companionship, as they flap together towards an open-world full of cavernous dungeons, dangerous ruins, and challenging bosses. Remember: carrying is caring!

Pre-order <span class="bold">Owlboy</span> and take to the pixel-perfect skies, DRM-free on GOG.com.
Pre-order bonus: the dreamy OST is free for the early owls, available to download right away both on mp3 and FLAC formats!
The 10% discount will last until the game's release on November 1st.

Tyrrhia: Will it be available for purchase after the pre-order period? I hope it's not just an exclusive.
avatar
maladr0Id: Yes, the OST will be available for purchase separately after the pre-order period ends.
Awesome. Thank you!
OST is already downloadable, normal? I may have missed it in the article. :P
"Gorgeous" is an understatement to how this game looks!

Indeed it is!

rgnrk: Probably not for the common folk, but it seems you were for a picky, sensitive, confrontational worned out old timer like myself.
As someone who usually take the role of a confrontational, picky old-timer, I do not hold that against you :)
*obligatory "this game is made in Norway!"-brag*

This has been in development since 2008. It will be interesting indeed :)

Now I'm curious: is the game's music like the piece in the trailer... EDIT*
In any case, I'm very interested. I also remember reading about this years back. Good for them for sticking with it.

You must have been waiting for an opportunity to say that. =P

EDIT: Never mind. I answered my own question. Looks like it is indeed just like the trailer's music.

mistermumbles: Now I'm curious: is the game's music like the piece in the trailer or is it in actually retro chip music style? There's been a number of times I came across game trailers that used completely different types of music.

In any case, I'm very interested. I also remember reading about this years back. Good for them for sticking with it.

Hah, yeah. It's a rare opportunity. I could have said it when Dreamfall Chapters released, but I forgot :P
avatar
drealmer7: I've got to say a name like "Owlboy" is really awful and annoying and a huge turnoff.

The game looks interesting and like it could be something I'd want to play, but, I'm having a hard time getting past the name. I really don't want that word as something that stays in my mind for any period of time and hope to eventually forget I ever heard it.
I think it was "Crowboy" initially but creators broke up with Funcom. ;)
avatar
adaliabooks: I can understand complaining when devs have obviously just phoned it in with the graphics, but this looks beautiful, like the very best of SNES era games.
avatar
Breja: Now that's just self-contradictory.

Anyway, I thought that phrasing my complaining into a Monty Python letter will make it obviously not-quite serious. I mean, I'm not going to touch it, but I don't mind it being here. However, apparently for some people

rgnrk: Here we go again...
You can just... not buy it.
Why are you trying to prevent others to enjoy this and other similar games here?
The more games they release, the better.

Or are you maybe on the deluded trend of thinking that these games are preventing the one you want from being released here?

Breja: I was waaaay to subtle :P
Not everybody is a Monty Python fanboy (no, not even on a video game site). ;)
That trailer score. Damn. You get a masterpiece before you even start the game.

maladr0Id: Indeed it is!
Not very long, but sounds cute. Same style than in trailer.
Never heard of this one before, but it looks pretty, and the little I heard of the soundtrack is to my liking.

There's a very old demo on InieDB if someone would like to get a taste of it, even if a stale one.

mobutu: I thought it's Oldboy and immediately think of the movie ;)
Wouldn't it be something to get this one here? *sigh*

I'll bite the bullet,I'll get it.
Seems like the title could sound similar to "I'll buy" in some dialect of English, but I can't figure out which. As a consequence, I won't buy this one yet.
